Green Valley, AZ September 5 Good Morning: Don't forget our Hospitality Committee is hosting a pot luck dinner today, September 5th, at our Ramada. Please bring a dish to share. The Committee will supply 'the essentials' (napkins, paper plates, and utensils) as well as beer, wine, soft drinks, and ice. Bring your own hard stuff if you desire a stiffer libation. Happy hour begins at 4:30 pm; pot luck at 5:15. It has been a long summer; plan on joining us today for this first fall, Ramada event. Be there, or be square! There will be a bin at the Ramada today for collecting donations for the local Food Bank. Please bring a non-perishable food or toiletry item to donate if you can. Our monthly Free Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada, will resume in October. It will be held the third Wednesday of each month, in the early am. Times will vary depending on the weather. This event is a freebee, and is for residents to come, gather, and have some time to chat and enjoy a cup and a donut--purely social. No agenda, no meeting, no axe to grind--just some social time with one another. Watch for announcements as to times in the Memo. One of our EE residents, Claire Coon, has some surplus rain water she has collected, and wants to give it away for plant watering. It is in a collection barrel in front of her house at 832 Regalo. If you would like to have some rain water, help yourself. The barrel has a spigot, and it is easy to take water from it. Plants love rainwater, as it doesn't have the salts and minerals contained in our regular water. Stoney Brown, our long-time Common Areas Chair, has asked to be relieved of his duties to deal with a couple of health issues. He is going to be seriously missed for the outstanding job he did, and for his willingness to go the extra mile to deal with landscape issues in EE. Board member Dean Hess has agreed to accept the Chair position for Common Areas. Requests for common area service should be directed to Dean, at 398-4829, or to Tom, at 399-0455. When you see Stoney, be sure to thank him for all of his work on our behalf. Weed spraying is coming along slowly but surely. There will be a major push this week to get as much done as possible. Because of scheduling issues and the difficulty in obtaining the right equipment to get the job done as quickly as the Board would like, we will be looking into obtaining some spray equipment that would belong to the HOA. That will enable us to address the problem on our own timetable, and will also make it possible to do an application of pre-emergent spray to prevent the weeds from germinating at substantially less expense than utilizing the services of a commercial applicator. This idea will have to be studied carefully before any decision is made. Regular Board meetings will begin this month, after the summer recess. Board meetings are always held the third Monday of each month, at the Ramada, beginning at 1:00 pm. All residents are invited to attend.
