Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, Az.

September 21st

Good Morning:

In the September 16 edition of the Green Valley News and Sun, in Regina Ford’s column on page 2, you will see a photo of a group known as the “Chosin Few”, standing in front of our Sunset Ramada, the sign of which can be seen in the background of the photo. The Chosin Few is a group of combatants who participated in the battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean war, and who were honored by the Green Valley Detachment of the Marine Corps League. They shared a cookout, and stories, Saturday, September 12. We were honored to have them enjoy their time in our Ramada in EE, where one prominent member of the group is our own John Levi.

The new slide show feature on our EE website at www.esperanzaestates.net has been a big success so far. It has received more “hits” this past week than the site has had in a long time, actually reaching a record for a couple of the days this past week. Also, thanks to resident Spencer Thomas, we now have some additional photos on the site, so be sure and take a look. If you have not tuned in on this show so far, give it a try. Just go to the website by clicking on the above link, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the picture on the left side of the page. The slide show will start automatically. You will be impressed.

As a reminder, if you have pictures around EE that might be of interest, send them to our webmaster Craig Surprise at ee-webmaster@msn.com and they will be used if suitable. The webmaster has suggested guidelines as follows: places, things, views, action shots, and assemblies of a number of people (vs. individual identifiable people). Credit will be given to any photographer submitting material and you will have the thanks of all who view them. Many thanks again to Craig for all of his work on this new feature.

As an interesting aside to the slide show, one resident was so impressed with a masonry flower box he saw on it, he ordered an identical one built for himself at his home. You just might get some ideas as well.

The website ‘Links’ page ( http://www.esperanzaestates.net/links.htm ) has also now been updated to make it easier for people looking for homes in EE to search the local real estate listings. The above is a direct connection to this page, or go to the website www.esperanzaestates.net and click on Links on the left hand side of the page. By following the directions there it is now possible to obtain only a list of the homes for sale within Esperanza Estates, without having to plow through all Green Valley listings. There are many other useful Links on this page as well, so check them out. Our thanks go out again to our webmaster. (Webmaster's note: thanks to the EE homeowner & agent who made the suggestion to change from the Tucson MLS site to the Green Valley / Sahuarita listings site.)

The Esperanza Enhancement Team is organizing a garage sale to be held October 24 at 821 Napa. Time of the sale will be announced when determined. Donations of household items in good condition will be appreciated, and arrangements may be made to have them picked up by calling Denise at 399-3312, Geri at 777-4972, or Barb at 867-8067. All proceeds of this sale will be used to pay the cost of additional sun/wind screens for the Ensalmo side of Sunset Ramada. This sale will be in addition to the giant Team sale to be held in the spring of ‘10.

A group of local Rotarians from the Valle Verde Rotary Club will be holding an event at Sunset Ramada this Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Remember, our first fall Board meeting will be today, beginning at 1:00 at the Ramada.
All residents are invited. A meeting agenda follows this edition of the Memo.

Have a good week.
