Monday Morning Memo-------------September 15th

Good Morning:

Our Hospitality Committee has released its long-awaited schedule of events for the balance of 2008, as follows:

October 14th-----------Hamburger Nite

October 28th-----------Hamburger Nite

November 11th ------- Hamburger Nite

November 25th -------Hamburger Nite

December 7th----------Special Christmas Party, details to be announced

These events will also be posted on the Events Calendar and the Coming Events page in the Forum on our website, www.esperanzaestates.net.  Check these pages periodically to learn the latest as to what is happening in EE.

All events will be at Sunset Ramada beginning at 4:30; further details to be supplied. Watch this space. During November, it is anticipated some construction work will be going on in the area of the sink and counter at the Ramada, but there will be no interference with the Hospitality Committee’s schedule.

Regular monthly Board meetings will begin again today at 1:00 pm at Sunset Ramada. All residents are invited to attend. A meeting agenda appears below.

WEBMASTER VISIT

Our new friendly and loquacious webmaster, Craig Surprise, will be available to answer your questions about the EE web site and new forum at the Sunset Ramada between 9 and 10 o’clock on Wednesday, Sept. 17th. If you’re a complete novice and haven’t even figured out how to find our web site or forum on the Internet, Craig will be able to get you pointed in the right direction. If you are a regular user with questions about how something works (or doesn’t!), he’ll be available to answer your questions. If you have a suggestion about something you would like to see on the web site, or an idea for a new discussion topic to be added to the forum, be sure to stop by and let him know. No appointment is necessary, and Craig will have a computer so will be able to give you a “hands on” experience.

A Candidates Forum will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the West Social Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. The event is sponsored by Green Valley Community Coordinating Council, Green Valley League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, Green Valley/Sahuarita

Chamber of. Commerce, and Green Valley Recreation. This two-hour forum will have candidates for U. S. Representative District 8, State Senate, District 30,State Representative, District 30, Pima County Attorney, Pima County Sheriff and the Arizona Corporation Commission.

Stoney Brown attended an AAA sponsored seminar on tree care, held recently in conjunction with GVCCC. Stoney is in charge of our common areas and supervises the AAA crews who keep our landscaping maintained.

Two of our busiest activists with the Esperanza Enhancement Team, Lance and Tess Ewing, have reported they will return for the winter season on October 10th. As the Enhancement Team returns over the next couple of months, just watch things begin to happen. They and our Hospitality Committee have a lot of plans to make Sunset Ramada more comfortable and user friendly. And they undoubtedly have a lot of other projects as well--they always do.

Mary Beth Wallace, chairperson for our Neighborhood Watch program, has reported the following Block Captain personnel changes:

Zone 19, Janet Kowalski, 399-1047, 1031 Regalo

This zone consists of Lots 199-205, Addresses 989 through 1041 on the south side of Regalo and lots 349-354, Addresses 160 through 184 on the west side of Holgado. She replaces Dorita Navarro who had asked to be relieved due to health.

Zone 23, Lillian Sheehan, 648-3749, 1154 Excelso

This zone consists of lots 295-313, Addresses 1050 through 1184 on the north side of Excelso.

Lillian is replacing Lois Blacker. Lois found her own replacement. Lois is looking forward to selling her home and moving to a new location. She Will be missed.

Thanks to Lillian and Janet for being willing to volunteer time to help the residents of EE. Now more than ever it is important that our Neighborhood Watch program be kept current, and the EE program has been recognized by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department as “the best in Green Valley”.

Watch for the September Periodico next week sometime.

Please remember to bring your pop-tops to the collection receptacle at the Ramada, where they will be donated to assist the Ronald McDonald children’s charity.

There have been some reports about rowdy conduct by guests at the pool. Remember, you as a resident are responsible for the conduct of your guests, and the pool rules are clearly posted. Nude swimming, although not specifically proscribed, is discouragedJ ! Violators will be asked to leave the pool. Enough said.

The spotlight on the Sunset Ramada sign at the corner of Ensalmo and Portillo, which was operating 24 hours a day due to a broken sensor, has been repaired, and now comes on only at dark as it was designed to do.

Have a good week. Nearly two inches of new rain this past week, as our monsoon winds down.
