Monsoon Madness
Away from EE during this year's monsoon season? Thanks to
Joe McCalpin's photos, you can vicariously enjoy the thrill
of seeing water rushing down Arroyo #9. (Some other photos
of previous years' rains by Bruce Liljegren and another 'EE
Photog' are there too.) To check them out on the EE web
site, click here: esperanzaestates.net .

Spic and Span
Thanks to Mr. Clean (aka Tom Cooke) our Ramada has received
a thorough cleaning and is all set for the many
community-wide and private events scheduled for this fall.
Any resident can reserve the Ramada for an event by signing
up on the calendar located on the bulletin board at the
Ramada.

September Board Meeting
Summer recess is over, and the September meeting of our HOA
Board will take place next Monday, September 17, at 1:00
p.m. at the Ramada. The Board encourages residents to
attend. We have a few new residents who moved in over the
summer and want to let them know they are very welcome at
the meetings.

Farewell From Pat Greenig
Pat Greenig, one of EE's original residents, is leaving EE
and asked us to publish the following note on her behalf.
"Greetings to All! In October I'm moving reluctantly
from my home of thirty years in Esperanza Estates to Garden
Home #601 in La Posada. I have so many wonderful memories of
my years here and the great friends and neighbors who
enriched my life. My husband Bob passed away in 2001. He
was EE Board President for three terms and served Green
Valley in many volunteer capacities. I was a Director and
founding member of the Animal League of GV (TALGV),
President of Casa de Esperanza, and a Hospice counsellor,
among other volunteer roles. Because of my deep roots in the
community, I could not leave GreenValley. I don't have my
new telephone number or new e-mail address yet, but I hope
to remain in touch with many of you. Esperanza Estates and
its residents will always hold a special place in my heart.
Pat Greenig"

Name Tags
Ramada social events will be starting up before you know it.
If you haven't yet purchased a magnetic name tag to wear at
these events, there's still time to order one before the
first event. The cost is $6.00 and the name tag is well
worth the price. To place your order, contact Melodye at
399-0455 or melodye1@cox.net.
Another Word From Our Weed Wackers
Weed Patrol Report - Dateline Esperanza Estates
9/9/2012
"What a difference a year makes. On our
weekly rounds to attack those pesky little
desert weeds, we have noticed the
following: there are approximately
320 homes that have subscribed to the program of
'no weed is a good weed.' Last year no more than
20% of our properties were weed free.
That leaves about 30 homeowners who probably are not aware
that their yard is in need of attention. In
addition to weeds, a number of these 30 homes also
have overgrown vegetation that needs to be trimmed.
If you fall into either the 'weeds only' or 'weeds
and trimming' classification, we and your neighbors
would greatly appreciate your cooperation.
It is gratifying to see that 90% of the
neighborhood has taken great pride in making EE
THE FINEST HOA IN GREEN VALLEY. We are striving
for 100% participation by the end of September.
If you are a non-resident owner and need help
identifying problems, please call (520) 419-2489
(Weed Patrol Hotline) and we will assist you.
If you are a resident and need help, please
contact the number above or any board member and
we will work out a solution for you.
Thanks to all of you for making our 'Hood'
look spectacular. Thanks in advance to the rest
of you who are planning to join in."

Condolences
We were
saddened to learn of the death of long-time EE resident
Charles Elliott on Sept. 6. Charlie was very active in
the neighborhood, helping people whenever he could. He
maintained the U.S. flags on every mailbox along upper and
part of lower Napa for many years, and these efforts were
always much appreciated. Charlie was a veteran of WW II, and
recently was part of the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to
visit the National WWII Memorial. A memorial service will
be conducted on Saturday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Green
Valley Community Church. We wish to extend our condolences
to his family and friends.
