Monday Morning Memo--------------September 1st

Good Morning:

Happy Labor Day! In some ways, Labor Day marks the traditional “end” of the summer. Not so in EE, where it marks the beginning of our Hospitality Committee’s round of annual parties, fiestas, and celebrations.

Remember the Hospitality Committee’s planned Labor Day potluck, set to begin at Sunset Ramada at 4:30ish today, September 1st. Bring a dish to share and your own alcohol--all else will be provided by the Committee. This will be the Committee’s “kick-off” event for the coming fall and winter, and these functions are always fun and a good time. We’ll see you there. Mark your calendar… or, better yet, use the Events Calendar that’s accessible from the Forum for a convenient reminder of everything that’s happening in the area, the potluck and primary day (tomorrow) included.

Have you tried out the new Forum yet? If not be sure to go to the website at www.esperanzaestates.net , click on Forum & Events Calendar in the lower left hand corner, and have a look. You will be amazed at its comprehensiveness and ease of use. Here you can buy or sell an item, advertise a service, learn what is new in EE by way of upcoming events, post a message, start a discussion, ask a question, find a reliable tradesperson, and more. Check it out, and give us feedback on your thoughts. We want you to use and enjoy the Forum, and if you have thoughts or problems, let us know. It’s YOUR Forum, and has been

designed for your use and enjoyment. Give it a try!

Many thanks to Gary Thompson for agreeing to take over the weekend chemical testing of our pool. Gary has helped out the HOA a lot in regard to various matters involving our pool, and we want him to know it is appreciated. This is a good time to say thanks to all of our chemical testers, and others, who enjoy and help out the HOA regarding the pool. You know who you are, and so do we, and you all have our thanks.

A new seat back has been ordered for the Rod Pearson memorial bench and will be here and installed sometime in the next several weeks. The merchant who sold us the bench tried to repair it, but the repairs didn’t take well, so he has agreed to replace the back. There will be no charge to the HOA, or to the volunteers who purchased the same. The seat portion of the bench is ok and will not be replaced. We will take the name plate off the old back in the next several days and attach to the replacement when it gets here. We thank Bruce Liljegren very much for seeing to this problem.

If you are an Arizona resident, be sure and vote tomorrow in the Arizona primary election.

Those of you who spend the summers here know the weed situation in EE is the worst in years. The HOA is directing the landscapers to devote all of their time and effort to getting the weed situation under control before tackling other projects. More spraying will begin soon, and will continue until all areas have been completed.

There are three old benches at Sunset Ramada that are in poor condition. We had a workman look at them to see if they could be repaired and learned they cannot. The cost involved would be more than the benches are worth. They might even be dangerous to sit on, due to the possibility of collapse. Accordingly they will be disposed of.

Have a good week, and remember the Labor Day potluck today, beginning at 4:30. We are thankful for the several gentle rains this past week, as the monsoon season winds down.
