Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

August 9

Good Morning:

A pizza party was held to thank the volunteers who installed the 331 new lamp heads and CFL bulbs in June and July. Unfortunately, not all the volunteers were able to attend, but those who did reported a good time.

The pump motor at the pool burned out a bearing this past Sunday, and had to be replaced. These motors run 24/7, and operate a pump continuously, so have something of a hard life. Fortunately they are pretty sturdy, so don’t need replacing too often.

It appears we can report success in evicting a packrat from the pump equipment room who had lived there for quite some time despite our best efforts to suggest he (or she) ought to live elsewhere. Every type of trap and poison proved ineffective, until we tried one of those devices that is supposed to put out a high-pitched sound that rodents dislike. We have not seen any sign of the critter since.

One of our tall common area palms was struck by lightning recently and the tree was killed. It had to be removed. We’re always sad when we have to remove a tree, and never do so unless absolutely necessary, but here had no alternative. The same strike which hit the tree caused some electrical damage as well, which has been repaired.

Work should begin in the near future on the EE entrance monument on Esperanza Blvd., where some beautification with decorative tile will be taking place.

A small amount of gravel replenishment will be done this coming week in some common areas, including the pool enclosure, Sunset Park, and a couple of other places needing help.

No rain this week.

Have a good week.
