Monday Morning Memo--------------August 4th

Good Morning:

On a happy note, the final payment on Sunset Ramada was made July 31st, and it is now owned by our HOA free and clear. Thanks to all who made timely payment on the special assessment to enable this accomplishment. It has taken the short span of almost exactly 2 years to fully construct and to finally pay for this splendid amenity to our common areas and to our subdivision, which we will use and enjoy for many years into the future. The special assessment saved our HOA thousands of dollars in interest charges, and was the best way to have handled this.

The many amenities to our Ramada since its construction have been largely through the efforts of our Enhancement Team, and the people who purchased memorial bricks and made donations for the various improvement drives that have taken place. This fall, the Enhancement Team and our Hospitality Committee plan on teaming up for some major improvements to the Ramada kitchen area, which will render it even more functional and user-friendly.

A special thanks is due HOA Board member and Treasurer Joan Moreaux, who oversaw the somewhat complicated collection and accounting of the special assessment from our 351 property owners, and handling the payment end of the transaction. So, thanks, Joan, for all of your hard work on this---as well as all of your efforts on behalf of our HOA! You are appreciated perhaps more than you realize.

We have been asked to pass on a warning that there have been 3 recent burglaries in Esperanza Estates, so it is imperative that we all take action to secure our homes and property, both while at home and away. Police sources advise the most likely perpetrators are illegals passing through the area. Pleased be alert and keep your eyes open for suspicious activity, and report anything that appears amiss. Calling 911 is probably the best action to take.

Spaying for weeds in the common areas began on July 29th. This is likely to take awhile to complete, but the most visible areas will, of course, be the first treated. This monsoon has produced the best weed crop we have seen in EE in years.

Just a reminder: political signs are not allowed in yards under our CC&R’s, but are allowed by state law beginning 45 days prior to an election. Such signs must be removed promptly when the election is over (within 7 days). See Arizona Revised Statutes, 33-1808 ( C ). Please heed this request to avoid formal action.

Also, the next Arizona election is September 2nd, and neither presidential candidate is on the ballot here because it is a primary. Thus, no election sign for either presidential candidate can be posted in a yard until September 17th, 45 days before the general election in November.

There is a small pile of mesquite fire wood on Vereda Calma, next to our perimeter wall, free for the taking. If you have any use for this, please pick it up at once.

A leak in the men’s shower at the pool is being repaired.

Nancy Moore reports that a total of $470 was collected for flood relief in the mid-west, and has been delivered to the Salvation Army for its use in helping the victims of this tragedy. The Salvation Army has asked us to pass along its thanks for supporting this program, and we all thank Nancy Moore for her hard work on this. When Nancy sees others in need, she jumps in with both feet to take care of it. This is not her such first project to help people who could use a hand, and undoubtedly won’t be her last.

Have a good week. We could use some more rain!
