Good Morning,

This is your alternate editor filling in for Tom this morning.

Here goes:

Neighborhood Watch
Several weeks ago when I was walking my little dog, Luv, I heard some water running and then saw it really gushing onto the sidewalk of a home of one of our winter owners not here this time of the year.
It turned out the phone number listed for these folks had been disconnected.
The person listed to contact was no longer the contact.
The emergency number Neighborhood Watch had listed was disconnected!
I guess this is my way of reminding all of us to keep Neighborhood Watch informed of emergency numbers and people that have keys to our properties when we are going to be gone.  This incident turned out to be a broken line in the main in-ground sprinkling system.  Neighborhood Watch Chairman Mary Beth Wallace finally got in touch with the homeowners.  She found out their email address. Thanks to our Webmaster, Craig Surprise, for this, but days went by without a response from the owners.  When they did contact Mary Beth, it turned out they did have someone checking on their home, but he had not been there when the sprinkling system was operating.  Mary Beth reports there have been four similar situations recently.  Contact Mary Beth if your information needs updating, or is incomplete.  Enough preaching, I guess?  Glad this wasn't a life or death situation.

Labor Day Potluck
Our popular Labor Day potluck is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. next Monday, Sept 6th at the Ramada at Sunset Park.  Our Hospitality Committee will be providing the liquid libations, plates, eating utensils and napkins. You are asked to bring a favorite dish of your choice to share. This has been a popular event in the past, so come and join in the fun. Remember to bring a donation for the Food Bank if you can.

Weeds
As was reported last week, weeds are a BIG, BIG problem this year. We are all asked to take care of the weeds growing on our individual property, as it affects the overall appearance of our neighborhood for all of us in Esperanza Estates.  If you are out of town for the summer, please have the people taking care of your property deal with them. This is our 6th summer in Green Valley, and I don't ever remember them being this plentiful.  Common areas are being treated to rid those areas.

Pool
This is a reminder that the Pool is a welcome addition to the Esperanza Estates Neighborhood.  If you haven't been taking advantage of it, why not give it a try.  (If you've misplaced your key to the pool gate, contact Tom Cooke or myself to get a replacement.)

Hope to see many of you at the Potluck on Labor Day (next Monday) at the Ramada.

That's it for today.  Have a good week.  A special thanks to Webmaster Craig Surprise for sending the memo out for me when I have filled in for Tom.
