Monday Morning Memo-----------------July 7th

Good Morning:

About 75 people enjoyed a fine celebratory Fourth of July party at Sunset Ramada, courtesy of our always hard-working Hospitality Committee. It was a fine evening, and the temps cooperated by dropping to about 90, and with the fans going it was a pleasant experience and quite comfortable. Our thoughts returned to last year and the Fourth, before we had our fans installed, when it was hot enough to suggest to many that a donation for the fans was a wise investment in future comfort. Many thanks to our Committee for all of their usual efforts.

Nancy Moore announced at the party that she was engaged in raising money to donate to the mid-west flood victims through the Salvation Army, who has agreed to make sure any such donations reach the victims. She would like to do this as an Esperanza Estates community project. Cash is the best vehicle for a donation, as the Salvation Army has advised that it can’t accept clothing or other donations in kind due to storage and transport problems. Donations can be dropped off with Nancy at 251 Circulo Napa, and you can reach Nancy for additional information at 625-2415. Checks should be noted in the memo portion that they are for flood relief, and made out to the Salvation Army. This appeal will remain open until the end of July, so please help if you can.

We are very pleased that we have a new webmaster for our website, http://www.esperanzaestates.net in the person of EE owner Craig Surprise. Craig is a computer expert, and is in the process of taking over the site. He will be doing regular maintenance and keeping the site up to date in the future. He may be reached via email at eewebmaster@verizon.net Our previous webmaster, Richard Chronister, built the site originally and had been maintaining it, but has since moved to Tucson. Richard did a fantastic job for us, and we look forward now to continuing with Craig. Since its inception, this site has had nearly 9,000 “hits” by users, and has been a real asset to Esperanza Estates. It contains many photos, all of our legal documents (including paint colors), previous issues of the Monday Morning Memo and Periodico, and important links to other Green Valley sites of interest. We are hopeful that we can restore use of our Forum as well. Welcome aboard Craig!

We are advised that Saguaro Environmental Services, who has recently changed their trash pick up day from Thursday to Monday, will continue to pick up recycle on Thursdays. Thanks to Jerry Allen, who called Saguaro and was so advised, for the information.

A new skimmer thermometer has been installed for the pool skimmer. The old one was reading about 6-7 degrees low. The solar pool heater is set for 86 degrees, and has been maintaining that temperature very nicely, courtesy of Old Sol--rather than the gas company.

Sheila Bennen (399-0501) and Melodye Cooke (399-0455) are looking for people interested in forming a group to play Bunco. Please call if interested, and details will be provided. Skill level--unimportant.

Here is another important announcement:

8 new recipients have been added to the Monday Morning Memo distribution list. To those receiving the Memo for the first time--welcome! It now goes out to more than 230 recipients, over 2/3rds of our subdivision.

We are sad to report the loss of three of our long-time residents and friends, Audrey Ware, Paul Steidle, and Millard LaGrange, all of whom have recently passed on. Our condolences to their families.

Have a good week. A few decent storms in recent days. Hopefully more to follow. We hope you all had an enjoyable Fourth of July celebration.
