Weed Update
Last Thursday, Tom and Boyd began their next campaign against
weeds in EE. They believe that we have had enough rain to germinate all
dormant weeds by this time, and a major effort against them now will
carry us through until the winter rains begin. Spraying in all parking
strips in the entire subdivision and the Esperanza Blvd common areas has
now been completed and spraying of the parks, quad yards, and other
common areas within EE will begin on Tuesday. Bufflegrass in Arroyo #9
adjacent to Vereda Calma has been sprayed and killed to keep it from
invading EE. Our Gator and spray equipment, which are critical to this
job, were certainly good investments. Please wave when you see Tom and
Boyd passing by on the Gator to let them know their efforts are greatly
appreciated.
Movie Night
Our weekly movie night will resume on Saturday, August 4th. The name of
the film to be shown that night will be posted at the Ramada later this
week.
Virtually Finished!
The last of the inspection items -- grab bars-- has been completed on
the new tennis/pickleball restrooms. This was a tough job as the
porcelain tiles were extremely hard and required special diamond bits
and many hours to drill a total of 48 holes through them without
breaking them. After the re-inspection early this week, there will be a
final cleaning, installation of the remaining fixtures and stocking of
supplies. Then we'll be officially open for use. Thanks to Kevin
Welsh for his hard work on this project. He deserves a gold medal!
Rain, Rain, Don't Go Away!
Living in the desert certainly changes your view of that old nursery
rhyme that wishes the rain would go away. Total rainfall from the
welcome weekend storm was over 1.5 inches.
As always, the rain washed some sand onto our streets. But thanks to
Dean Hess and the Hot Desert crew having removed a lot of sand from
the wash near Bridge Park this past spring, the amount was substantially
less than in past years.
Missing EE? Check Out Our Website
Our webmaster, Craig Surprise, has added photos of the completed
restrooms at the tennis/pickleball courts and some of recent monsoon
storms to our website. Now you can virtually be there. If you have any
photos that you think would be of interest to our residents who are away
for the summer, please send them to
ee-webmaster@msn.com.
In Memoriam
The MMM will include the Periodico's In Memoriam list on the last
Monday in July and August when the Periodico is not published. We hope
this will give residents who wish to express their condolences an
opportunity to do so on a more timely basis.
