More Monsoon Mess
The storm that rolled into Esperanza mid-afternoon last
Monday dropped about an inch of rain and wiped out a number
of trees. At least three garage doors were damaged by the
wind or microbursts. A palo verde tree at the home of Bob
and Cindy Krantz on Regalo crashed down and took out a 12
foot section of their perimeter wall before landing on
Portillo and blocking traffic for a while. A mesquite in
front of the Sage's house toppled too. The GV News showed a
picture of Denise and Henry Roessle's garage door damage,
but for those of you who aren't around, here it is.
How I Spent My Summer Vacation
Remember those reports your teachers always assigned the
first week of the new school year? Well, now the Periodico
wants you to let us see what you did this summer. Whether
you took a trip, entertained family, worked on a project or
just spent time floating around in the pool, inquiring minds
want to know how you spent the summer. Please share by
sending a photo to
droessle@mac.com.
Blue Bandit Strikes Again
The Moultons are
puzzled. Last month a blue plastic bucket used to water
their tree disappeared from in front of their house. Then
last week their blue recycle bin disappeared between 8:00
and 11:30 in the morning. Please contact Bruce or Judy if
you have had a similar experience or if you have any idea of
what might have happened to their items.
Pothole Patches
Monsoon season is the time when new potholes appear on our
streets. If you notice one, Joe
McCalpin, our GVC representative, is the guy to
call (867-8067). Thanks to Joe for fixing the recent one on
del Norte.
Look! Up in the Sky! It's Supermoon!
If you missed the last supermoon in June, you have another
chance to see one tonight, July 22. It won't be as
spectacular as the one in June which was a super-duper moon,
but worth a look. And, it will count as an "EE after dark"
photo for the September Periodico (hint, hint).
Pima County Bond Survey Coming Your Way
HOA Board Member and Green Valley Council Representative Joe
McCalpin encourages
EE residents to watch their mailboxes for a survey from Pima
County. The Pima County Bond Advisory Committee is
sending surveys to a random selection of Pima County
residents. They're asking whether voters believe that a
bond issue would be appropriate to raise funds to repair
county roads--our EE streets being some of those roads. Joe
asks that you be on the lookout for these surveys and return
them promptly--and personally, he'll vote to be a supporter of
bonds for roads.
Want to be heard on this issue? Go to:
azstarnet.com/pimasurvey to
submit your opinions about spending a proposed $1.3 billion
bond issue. You'll be asked to rate the importance of
spending categories and projects. It takes less than 10
minutes to complete and requires no more identification than
your zip code.
Rain Rain Everywhere
With more than 4 inches of rain reported for this area of
Green Valley during the last week, it's been water, water,
everywhere in EE. Many residents have encountered water in
new places. Skylights and exhaust fans have been dripping,
and standing water has been seeping in between walls, doors,
windows and floors. Dean Hess reports
a new bathroom feature added to the Hess residence.
Unfortunately the picture of Dean sitting on the "throne" in
the "reading room" with a towel on his head to deflect the
shower he was getting from the exhaust fan was a bit
blurry. Just use your imagination.
Dependable She
Dependable She, Mary Beth Wallace, and
her minions (otherwise known as the Neighborhood Watch
volunteers) have made frequent walk-by checks of
residences and residents following storms. Their
responsibility doesn't extend to an inspection of the
interior, however. If
you're absent, have someone check on the condition of
your property periodically to minimize potential damage.
You Know It's Summer in Green Valley When...
you park in front of the Continental Safeway--yes, in front
of it--without a handicapped parking permit. Did you even
know those three spaces were there?
