A Mid-Summer Night's Margarita
The June margarita party met with rave reviews, so we're
doing it again this Wednesday,
July 16 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. Margaritas will be provided by the Cookes and
the Millers for
no charge except a smile. Please bring an appetizer to share,
keeping in mind that at this time of year many folks like to
enjoy drinks and appetizers in the late afternoon, as a
substitute for dinner. A donation to the Community Food Bank
would also be appreciated. A bin is located at the Ramada. |
Our Ramada Cleans Up Nice
Volunteer cleaners Joe
McCalpin, Tom Cooke, Jim Sourant, Kris Bean, and Dave Sielken,
gave our Ramada a much needed bath Friday, moving all the
furniture and power washing the floor. Master painters Tom and
Joe, also repainted the concrete portions of the floor, giving
our Ramada a fresh new look in time for the Margarita Party this
Wednesday. Thanks to all the workers for their efforts. |
Great
Grilling Ahead
Thanks to Dangerous
Dave Sielken, the next grilling event at the Ramada
will not include a pyrotechnic display. After his July 4th
experience battling the flames from accumulated cooking grease,
Dave fought back with some elbow grease. Thanks to his
efforts the next EE cookout should be a safer event for the
chef. |
Ice
Again--Not on the Santa Cruz
The newly donated
refrigerator at the pool enclosure was connected today and is
working very well, making ice for our pool users, as well as
keeping their drinks cold. We thank our donors very much,
and note they have asked for no public thanks so will not
disclose their names. But we know our pool users will be
thanking them daily as they enjoy this amenity. |
For Those Who Are Away
Wonder how the monsoon is shaping up in Green Valley this
year? Of course, the rainfall can vary greatly from one area to
another, but the official weather service report for July 1
through July 12 is 1.89 inches. That's slightly over the 2013
total of 1.36. Might not seem like much to those of you in
other parts of the country, but every drop helps. We're having
normal (whatever that is) summer weather in New England (think
humidity), residents in southern Illinois have reported recent
torrential rains and flooding (sump pumps are working overtime)
and residents in Washington are watching wildfires.
