Monday Morning Memo----July 14th

Good Morning:

Thanks to the efforts of our new webmaster, Craig Surprise, our website is being brought up to date rapidly, and will be fully functioning very soon. The most recent issues of the Periodico are in the process of being placed on the site at this time, and all else has been updated. Our webmaster is also looking into ways the former site, esperanzaestates.com can be taken down. There has been some confusion caused by the similarity in the names of the two, and as the older one has not been maintained for close to 3 years, it should be removed, and it will be if possible. We are very appreciative for all of Craig’s help, and look forward to working with him for the betterment of our community for a long time. And we continue to thank our first webmaster, Richard Chronister, who built the site originally and took care of it for its first years, during which he continuously improved it. The site address is: www.esperanzaestates.net Check it out. Our last report showed over 9,200 visits to the site since its inception. Several have reported the information on the site is the reason why they chose EE as a place to buy and live. It tells our story well, and makes our communications media, legal documents, Board information, and a lot of photos and general data about our subdivision accessible to anyone with a computer in the entire world.

Our monsoon season has gotten off to a fair start, with several storms over the past few days and more in the forecast. Only one in the way of “serious” rain yet, but more is expected. The lightning shows have been pretty spectacular. Our daily temperatures have been much more pleasant recently, although of course, humidity is up some as well. Fairly typical monsoon pattern to date. The Ocotillos are in full regalia, and all the cacti look pretty happy. One of the measures of a good rainstorm here is how much sand we get washed out on Portillo and lower Napa--and we have a few wheelbarrows full to contend with.

Things are pretty quiet in Esperanza Estates, and there is not much on the calendar.

The meeting of the new singles organization set for yesterday and announced in the Memo last week was postponed, and will be reset for another time. Watch for further details.

Sheila Bennen (399-0501) and Melodye Cooke (399-0455) are still looking for people interested in forming a group to play Bunco. Please call if interested, and details will be provided. Skill level--unimportant.

We wish to repeat that Nancy Moore announced at the party last week that she was engaged in raising money to donate to the mid-west flood victims through the Salvation Army, who has agreed to make sure any such donations reach the victims. She would like to do this as an Esperanza Estates community project. Cash is the best vehicle for a donation, as the Salvation Army has advised that it can’t accept clothing or other donations in kind due to storage and transport problems. Donations can be dropped off with Nancy at 251 Circulo Napa, and you can reach Nancy for additional information at 625-2415. Checks should be noted in the memo portion that they are for flood relief, and made out to the Salvation Army. This worthwhile appeal will remain open until the end of July, so please help if you can.

As a second reminder for those who use Saguaro Environmental Services for their trash pickup---the new trash day is Monday, and the recyclables will be picked up on Thursdays.

A dandy new clock has been installed at Sunset Ramada, which can be seen from any point in the place.

Have a good week, and enjoy the rain!
