Monday Morning Memo

June 8, 2015        Esperanza Estates        Green Valley, AZ

Pool Area Closed Today
The fine folks from Monstrosity will be trimming the palms in the pool area today, Monday June 8.  The pool area will be closed until they have finished.

AED
Last week was National CPR/AED Awareness Week.  So, it was fitting that Del Bean performed and filed the first monthly report on the functioning of the AED at the pool.  (It passed.) In addition, Craig Surprise activated a 2nd AED purchased by Enhancement and installed by Greg Gramstad up at the courts.  He also printed signs with the address of each location, to be given to emergency personnel when calling 9-1-1, and attached them to the AED enclosures.

Volunteer Needed
The volunteer who has been setting out the recycle and trash containers at the Ramada on Wednesdays and Thursdays will be leaving for the summer at the end of June.  If you are willing to be his summer substitute, please click here or send an email to ee-webmaster@msn.com.

Attention Creative Types
The EE Artisans (formerly EE Arts Club) are planning to hold an arts/crafts sale at the end of November (tentatively November 27). Interested participants will be able to rent a table for a nominal fee and sell their work to their EE neighbors. There will be more details about this event later, but we wanted to give you advance notice so you can get started on your projects over the summer.

Attention Tennis Players
Reminder that scheduled tennis play will not take place this Friday, but will resume next week. New members are always welcome to join.  Breakfast and mimosas after the games.

Firing Up for the Fourth of July
Linda Sielken will be directing a planning meeting to line up workers for EE's Fourth of July celebration. Willing Hospitality helpers should meet at the Ramada Tuesday, June 16th at 11 am.

New Fire Extinguisher
Thanks to Craig Surprise for replacing the expired (10+ year old) fire extinguisher at the Ramada with a new one.  He also relocated it to the wall left of the refrigerator where it will be more accessible if needed.  If you have an extinguisher at home, it's worth checking the expiration date on the label.

Rookie of the Year
Congratulations to Bill Berdine who was named "Rookie of the Year" by the Pima County Extension Master Gardeners. Now that his talent has been recognized, Bill says his garden consultation fees will go up from $0 to $00.

Esperanza Boulevard
In case you are confused by the new striping on Esperanza Boulevard, a GV News article explained what it's all about.  In addition to a driving lane, there are a bike lane (although the little bike symbol isn't there), a parking lane, and a buffer zone (the one marked with the diagonal stripes) to separate the parking lane from the bike lane.

Save Money
This tip from Trico: electricity costs you more in the summer months, particularly during the hours of 3:00-7:00 p.m.  By shifting your primary energy usage to before 3:00 and after 7:00, you will help keep your electric bill down.
