Hospitality Hotties to Meet
Those willing to
help with set up and clean up for the Fourth of July Celebration
are asked to meet with Head Hottie Linda Sielken at 9
am in the
Ramada on Wednesday.
There'll be a short planning meeting. The loan of any
red-white-and-blue decorations would be appreciated. Please
bring them to the meeting.
The Last Picture Show of Summer
The Arts Club will be hosting the last movie of the summer
on Wednesday,
July 2 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Ramada. The movie is Despicable
Me 2, a computer-animated comedy
film. "When the world needed a hero, they called a
villain." Popcorn will be provided, but please bring your
own beverage. Movies will resume in the fall.
Waving the Red White and Blue
Join your neighbors and friends at an Independence Day
Celebration this Friday,
July 4th, at 4:30 pm at
the Ramada. Dangerous Dave Sielken will
debut on the gas grill, serving up burgers and hot dogs.
Perhaps red fire extinguishers wrapped in blue and white
ribbon would make a nice table decoration--just in case. Lovely
Lady Linda Sielken will
be setting out luscious libations. Your favorite salad, side
dish or dessert will be welcomed. Bring your own table
service if you wish; disposable plates and utensils will be
available. Food, friends, fun. And it's free! Who could ask
for more.
Artwork Restored Thanks to Dave
Sielken for gently removing the patina (a.k.a. bird do do and mesquite sap)
from the hand-painted bench donated by Karen
O'Brien. Following the careful restoration, Del
Bean was
recruited to assist in moving the bench to a new spot in its
pocket park. Thanks all for this labor of love. We'll hope the
birds do not follow.
Pickleball Is Still Alive
Not even the Arizona heat thwarts pickleball fanatics. But
they have reduced their schedule a bit. Organized play is only Saturday
mornings from 7:30 to 10. It's a good time for new
players to come out and learn and be ready when the pros return
in the fall.
What Interests You?
Barbara Copeland has
received a lot of good suggestions for possible new EE interest
groups and is still looking for more. Ideas so far include
knitting, bridge, board games, genealogy, vegetarian, and Qigong
among others. If you'd like to share your interests with a
group of neighbors, email Barbara at
jlbrcopeland@aol.com.
Goodbye for the Summer
Reminder that the Periodico is not published during July and
August. But the team doesn't stop working on new ideas over the
summer, and is hoping you'll help them out. Specifically, they
are looking for additional writers (even for just one article),
your vacation photos and EE wildlife photos and stories for Mike Gerrard's new series. They also want to talk to residents who
had experience working a night shift and residents who are fans
of soap operas. Contact Denise
Roessle at
droessle@mac.com or Cynthia
Surprise at
cjsurprise@verizon.net to volunteer.
Trouble Sleeping?
Try reading a copy of the EEHOA's CC&Rs and Bylaws. Seriously folks, if you have any questions about what you can
and can't do in EE, this is the first place you should look. Ben
Sheffield recently revised these document to show all
of the current amendments, and Craig
Surprise has updated the website so you can easily
access the current versions.
