Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

June 27

Good Morning:

Many thanks to Board Secretary Joe McCalpin for editing the Memo for the past couple of weeks, and to Board member and webmaster Craig Surprise for its distribution.

Speaking of the Memo, this month marks its 6th anniversary. The idea of a weekly newsletter to keep residents and owners informed was the brainchild of resident Bruce Liljegren, and our then HOA president Max Perry picked up the idea and ran with it. The first Memo went out to about 20 subscribers. The Memo now reaches 288 households, representing a large percentage of Esperanza Estates. Our web master, Craig Surprise, has added immeasurably to the publication.  It has proven to be a worthwhile tool to keep EE informed of what is happening. Past issues for about the last 6 months are kept on our website.

This will be the last Memo before the 4th of July, so be sure to make a note of the Hospitality Committee's planned party at the Ramada on that date, starting at 4:30. They will be serving their famous sausage and pepper sandwich, together with potato salad and baked beans, for the nominal charge of only $5.00. Grilling begins at 5 p.m.  In the interim, the Committee will include, for the nominal price of admission, cold beer, wine, and setups for BYOB cocktails. Come on down and enjoy the afternoon and help celebrate our country's birthday in style.

As with all of our Ramada events, we ask that you bring a can of food or other non-perishable food or toiletry item for the Food Bank to share with our less fortunate neighbors.

The last Board meeting before the summer recess was held last Monday; the next Board meeting will be in September.  The meeting minutes are posted to the website immediately after their preparation, and are available at www.esperanzaestates.net   At the June meeting, the Board voted to make the Wi-Fi zone at the Ramada/pool area a permanent amenity, as the use experienced during the 6 month trial period far exceeded expectations. Residents are using and enjoying this service, and the cost is moderate.

Maintenance on the roofs of the buildings in the pool enclosure and at the tennis courts was recently completed.  It had been nearly 5 years, and it was time.

The June issue of the Periodico, which will be the last for the summer, is out and available. Watch for it in your email.  It is also available on our website (click the 'Quick Link' to the Periodico Index below).  It is a particularly interesting issue, different than any you have seen before, with more features, more stories, more color, and more of everything.

For persons out of this area reading the Memo, the Arizona fires you have been reading about are nowhere near Green Valley, and no cause for concern in this vicinity.

Temperatures in Green Valley reached 109 degrees on Wednesday, the 22nd. The prediction for today is 111.

Have a good week. Hope your summer solstice last week was a happy one!  Keep your fingers crossed for an early and plentiful monsoon.
