Hot Weather Helpers
Willing to lend a hand to set up/clean up for EE's Fourth
of July Celebration? Linda Sielken will
be coordinating the party and is looking for a few good men
and women to assist. A short meeting of the minions will be
held at the Ramada at 9
am on Wednesday, July 2. If you have red-white-and
-blue decorations that could be used for the party, please
bring them to the meeting.

Jaws in the Pool!
Kevin Welsh couldn't
resist any longer. By popular demand Jaws will be shown this
Wednesday in the pool area! Hot Dogs and chips will be
served at 6:30. Movie will start at 7:30. Will you be brave
enough to watch the movie while floating in the pool?

Help with
Hot Work on Hot Water System
The Ramada solar
heated water system is operational again thanks to Ben
Sheffield who
instituted a re-design by Craig Surprise. Even
neighborhood masonry magician, Miguel Lopez and
his helper got into the act, tossing components back up
onto the
newly coated roof. Thanks to all those who've helped with these
improvements. |
Looking for a Lasting Legacy?
Imagine your children and grandchildren sitting beneath the
shade of trees planted with your help. And, you don't have to
lift a shovel. This summer, EE Gardeners are working up
specifics for a low-water usage shade tree garden and small
Ramada resting area next to the tennis/pickle ball
courts. A monetary donation to the Gardeners project will
help the project move along. Contact Bill Berdine at whberdine@roadrunner.com
or 344-7301 if you'd like to be a part of it all. You can read the
Gardeners' detail report in the June Periodico.

Cool Down with Margaritas
Twenty-eight EE
summer residents took advantage of the cool (95 degree),
breezy afternoon last Wednesday afternoon and enjoyed
margaritas, soft drinks and appetizers courtesy of Bruce
and Carolyn Liljigren and Dave and Linda Sielken. If you missed
this one, don't worry. There'll be another one on July 16th. Tom
and Melodye Cooke and Ken and Kay Miller will be
hosting that one. Many thanks to these EE enthusiasts who keep the party going all summer long.
Testing countless margarita recipes is a tough job, but
somebody's got to do it. We're glad they did. |
Tennis
Anyone? Tennis players
are still gathering for Friday mornings at the EE courts, but the hot weather has encouraged them to move
their starting time up to 7:30 am. Join the group for a relaxed game of tennis,
perhaps a mimosa or two, and then brunch at a local bistro.
Sounds like tennis the way it was meant to be played. |
Calling All Nonagenarians
The Periodico is planning an article about EE residents who
are between 90 and 99 years old. If you are, or know someone
who is, contact Cynthia Surprise at cjsurprise@verizon.net. |
Monsoon Gardening
Congratulations to Bill
Berdine who
officially became an Arizona Master Gardener in May. Bill will
be giving us the benefit of his wisdom from time to time. Bill
has a one page guide to monsoon gardening that you might find
interesting and useful if you are thinking about gardening over
the next few months. He'll be happy to email it to you if you
contact him at whberdine@roadrunner.com.

Magnifying Reader
A magnifying reader for use by the visually impaired was
donated to the Green Valley Lions Club. These readers are
especially useful for people with macular degeneration.
The donated unit is a fairly new model and said to be in excellent
condition. Anyone that could benefit from this reader can contact Mary Beth Wallace at 399-0299.
