Green Valley, AZ June 14, 2010 Good Morning:
Do you have your flag out? Today is Flag Day and a good
day to be thankful we live in this great country. Some other June dates to put on your calendar: Fathers
Day is Sunday, June 20th; Summer officially begins Monday
June 21, and we have an Esperanza HOA Board meeting at
the Ramada at 1:00pm that same day. A copy of the
agenda will be included at the end of next week's MMM.
All homeowners are always encouraged to attend. This info is especially for our winter residents. The
triple-digit heat has arrived in Green Valley. We are
walking our dogs and taking our walks earlier in the
day, but sitting in the shade with an ice tea is hard to
beat any time of day. A dip in the pool is also great.
It's slow in Green Valley now with lots of parking
places available. As I write this I see the
hummingbirds are back at my feeders after having been
gone for months. Just wanted to let you know that we
miss you and a little of what you are missing. One of our homeowners told me last week that there are
a lot of scammers out there targeting senior citizens.
He said that last week he almost sent money when he was
contacted that his grandson was in trouble and needed
money ASAP. Only at the last minute did he find out it
was a scam! A good rule to follow is to be very careful
with personal information including credit card
information, and your social security number. Scammers
are getting really creative. If you have even the
slightest question check with a trusted family member or
friend for their input. Judith Lang passed on this information: Water Aerobics
at our HOA pool is moving to 8:00 to 9:00am today June
14. They meet Mon.-Wed.-Fri., and all homeowners are
invited to attend. They use belts, weights, and
sometimes no equipment. There is no charge. In the
summer months there may be only 2 or 3 people and up to
18 in the fall and winter. Why not give it a try?
Besides the exercise there is good camaraderie. Lastly, don't forget your palm trees. As most of you
know, Board action requires that they be trimmed every
year before the Monsoon season. Steve ('Stony') Brown
makes the arrangements for our common area trees and can
give you information on who we use. Contact him at
648-7235 if this is new to you. This is an important
safety issue! That's it for today. Have a good week.
