May 9

Good Morning:

Last week's Cinco de Mayo potluck was attended by about 60 residents, who enjoyed a fine evening at the Ramada. Many thanks to our always outstanding Hospitality Committee for their major role in putting it on. Many thanks as well to the fine EE chefs who brought the array of delightful dishes.

The regular May Board meeting will be held next Monday, May 16. An agenda will follow the next issue of the Memo.

If you have a notice, or wish to advertise something for sale, or are looking for something to buy, try posting it on the new and much enlarged bulletin board at the Ramada, on the east wall, behind the counter. This board was paid for by our Enhancement Team, and was constructed by Greg Gramstad, an excellent craftsman who donated all of his labor to build and install it.

Name Badges for our Ramada gatherings are now available for the price of just $6.00 each.  Each badge is plastic with a magnet (possibly not advisable for pacemaker patients.) The badges will have the name of the individual and the name of the street that they live on. The badges may be kept at the Ramada, so can be used for every occasion. The profits from the sale of these badges will go to the Enhancement Committee.  If you would like to place an order, please contact Melodye Cooke at 399-0455 or e-mail at melodye1@cox.net.

If you plan on being gone for the summer, Pima County  Extension Office, 520-648-0808 has information on pack rats and many home management issues that may crop up during an extended absence.

All you photographers, please remember the May 15th deadline for entries to the Photo of the Month Contest in the May Periodico.

An acoustical expert from Tucson was here last Friday, conducting tests at the Ramada for a proposal to try and limit the sound level during Ramada events when we have a good crowd there. The tests and the evaluation are being paid for by our Enhancement Team.  Hopefully, the report we receive will show how we may obtain a sound reduction of between 6 and 10 decibels, in incremental steps that make sense financially.  Stay tuned.
