Hi-Yo Silver!
The Lone Ranger rides across the screen at the Ramada this
Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. This
2013 film stars Johnny Depp as Tonto,
the narrator of the events, and Armie Hammer as
John Reid (The Lone Ranger). It relates Tonto's memories
of the duo's earliest efforts to subdue the immoral actions of
the corrupt and bring justice in the American
Old West. Popcorn will be provided. Please bring your own
beverage and silver bullets. |
Update to Pickleball Schedule
Kevin Welsh reports
that competitive play has been dropped for the summer due to
lack of players. Summer open pickleball (all skill groups) will
play Sundays, Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. When
the Southern Arizona Pickleball Association gets going, Kevin
will post the dates for play at Esperanza as well as at other
locations. Players will need a membership card to participate in
SAPA play, and you can get one from Kevin. You do not need to
be a SAPA member to play at Esperanza during our regular open
play. |
Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble
Thanks to Tom
Cooke and Bruce Liljegren for
their efforts to keep the water in the Ramada garden fountain
looking as good as possible. The babble of water is always
soothing and appreciated. |

Proposed "Ride Home" Service
The Green Valley
Council in conjunction with several local service organizations
is looking into the issue of getting home from a Tucson hospital
if released, but have no way home. Among other issues is the
size of the need in Green Valley. If
anyone in EE has had that problem, or if you know someone who
has experienced same, please tell your story to Joe
McCalpin. If you have been a good neighbor and helped
someone in this predicament, let Joe know about the
circumstances. Joe is not interested in names, just your
experience. Your privacy will be maintained. He wants to know
what happened and how the problem was resolved. You can call Joe
at 867-8067, or email him at bmccalpin@cox.net. If the "Ride
Home" service is going to be provided, the size and scope of the
service must be ascertained. |
It's Never Too Early to Start Planning
In the last couple of
years, several interest groups have formed in EE such as hiking,
fiber arts and the book club. Would you like to see groups
organized that would include your own interests? Barb
Copeland and Cynthia Surprise have a plan to help
facilitate new groups getting started. Tell us what would
interest you (for example, knitting, ceramics, scrabble,
scrapbooking, history, photography or yoga), and Barb and
Cynthia will complile a list of your suggestions. Then in early
November they'll hold an open house at the Ramada so you can
meet up with people who share your interests and get a group
started. Send your suggestion to Barb at jlbrcopeland@aol.com. |
Nextdoor 'Settings' -- the answer to an empty Inbox
Nextdoor Green
Valley Esperanza Estates--our
private, social network--has proven to be very useful and
popular in EE.
But, one 'curse' of success is having many people joining,
posting, and replying to previous posts. If you don't want to
be alerted by email each time some new activity occurs, just
change your Nextdoor 'Settings' (found by clicking the little
down-arrow next to your name on the Nextdoor screen) and click
the notification 'bullets' to specify 'daily summary' or no
notification at all! (Craig
Surprise, EE's webmaster would be happy to help you change
your Nextdoor settings to suit your lifestyle; just call
him--he's in the EE phone directory.) |
