Monday Morning Memo---------------May 5th

Good Morning:

Remember today is the Hospitality Committee’s Cinco de Mayo fiesta at Sunset Ramada. The festivities begin at 4:30, and it is a potluck, so bring you favorite Mexican dish to share. Bring your own alcohol as well. Set-ups for food and drinks will be provided by the Committee. There will be a piñata (filled with goodies) and a contest to break it. Dress with colorful Mexican clothing if you wish. This is always a fun event and a good time. No charge. We hope to see you there.

The next Hospitality Committee function is the annual Memorial Day party, now set for May 26th. Watch for details.

About 30 people enjoyed Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada last Monday morning. Many were winter visitors, getting ready to leave for the warmer months, and it was good to have an opportunity to say goodbye. This was the 4th Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada, which is an enjoyable event. We are always looking for sponsors for this event and if interested, contact 399-0455. It is a great way to promote neighborliness and build friendships among our residents.

Joe and Chris McMahon have donated another trash receptacle for use at Sunset Ramada. We thank them very much for their generosity. Joe was also helpful in clearing out some old waste material from the pool enclosure, and handling the transition from Saguaro to Talking Trash for the pool/ramada trash pickup.

The cold water/ice feature of the Hospitality Committee refrigerator at the Sunset Ramada is out of service for a time. The water line connecting it to the supply has become sun-damaged and will no longer hold pressure. We will replace it with a copper line in the future.

Our website ( http://www.esperanzaestates.net ) has been updated with the latest issues of the Periodico and meeting minutes, courtesy of our webmaster, Richard Chronister. Richard now lives in Tucson, but has agreed to help us keep the site current until we can find a new webmaster. Richard basically created the current site, and has maintained and improved it many time for us. His willingness to continue this for a time until we can find a replacement is much appreciated. Since its inception, the site has been viewed almost nine thousand times, and is a valuable and useful repository of photos, governing documents, and current and past issues of our publications.

Efforts are ongoing to obtain the new bench for the improved area behind our new sign on Portillo, where the EE Trail crosses it. Funds have been donated for one bench, and another has been promised. At least one of the new benches will have a back, and be similar to the Kiwanis benches seen around Green Valley. Board member Bruce Liljegren is working on the bench project.

As previously reported in these pages, a group has been formed in Green Valley for the improvement of the street medians. They are soliciting donations from interested individuals and groups for plantings and general improvements. The group is called, appropriately, Median Green, and can be reached at MedianGreen@cox.net , or by calling the GVCCC office at 648-1936. If interested, you can specify a donation be used for a specific median. As those immediately north of EE, on Esperanza Blvd. can use some work, keep them in mind if you wish to donate.

A very good friend of Esperanza Estates, Audrey Ware, is quite ill. You can leave her a message and learn of her current condition at http://www.caringbridge.org, and then type audreyware in the visit box. We wish Audrey well, and send our best for her to her family.

The Christmas lights left at Sunset Ramada for casual lighting were deemed no longer necessary and were becoming damaged, so have been removed and put away.

Have a good week, and please come to the Cinco de Mayo fiesta this afternoon at 4:30.
