Board Meeting Today
The regular meeting of the HOA Board will take place today in the
Ramada at 1:00 p.m. All homeowners are encouraged to attend the
meeting and express their views. An agenda is included at the end of
this edition of the Memo.
Memorial Day Potluck
Our Hospitality Committee will be sponsoring a Memorial Day potluck at
the Ramada starting at 4:30 on May 28. Please bring a dish to
share. The Committee will provide soda, wine, beer and mixers. This will
be the last social event until the Fourth of July, so please try to
attend. Even though many residents have left for the season, we
generally have a nice turnout for this event.
Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Thanks
To Eric and Jane Ellingson for allowing the HOA to store our
Ramada heaters in their garage over the summer when the heaters are not
needed. To Del Bean and Tom Cooke for walking the heaters over to
their summer storage. To Robin Lockwood and Kris Simonson for
providing housing for the Gator when it isn't in use. To Craig
Surprise and Tom Cooke for fixing the fountain in Sunset Ramada
Garden. We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful residents like
these who care about making Esperanza Estates a great place to live.
Restroom Construction Update
Now that we have the building permit, construction should move along
quickly. Last week the concrete was poured, and this week Miguel will
start to put up the walls. Ben Sheffield and Jim Lindberg are
doing a great job managing this project.
Problems Receiving the MMM?
Almost every week we hear from one or two subscribers who didn't
receive the Monday Morning Memo that week. Webmaster Craig suggests, if
you should experience the problem: first, go to the EE website (esperanzaestates.net)
to read the memo you missed; then, check your email 'junk' or 'spam'
folders to see if that week's memo wound up there. Generally, failing to
receive one week's memo is a fluke and the problem corrects itself the
following week. If you miss the memo a second time, email
Webmaster Craig (ee-webmaster@msn.com).
May Periodico Delay
The Periodico is typically available shortly after the Board
meeting. Due to some computer problems this month, there will
unfortunately be a delay in publishing the May issue. In light of the
delay, the Periodico Staff has extended the deadline for the May Photo
of the Month Contest to Wednesday, May 23.
Coffee & Donuts
Thirty four residents stopped by the Ramada for the monthly coffee &
donuts last Wednesday. That's great attendance given how many residents
have already left for the summer, and attests to the popularity of these
events. The last one of the season will be June 20, so try not to miss
it.
Memorial Bench Donated to del Norte Park
A bench has been donated to the new little park on Circulo del Norte
in loving memory of Phil Hopkins. Phil lived on del Norte, and
served on the EE HOA Board in the early 1990s.
Ice Out on the Santa Cruz
In EE, ice broke on the Santa Cruz this past Tuesday afternoon. If
you aren't familiar with this local saying, it means the first 100
degree day of the year. Tuesday's temperature as recorded at the EE
official weather station (a.k.a. Tom's backyard thermometer) reached
102.
Roger's Rock Reported Missing
Despite the valiant efforts of a team of five EE Hikers, Roger's
Rock remains on the missing list. Last Monday's excursion was
highlighted by bushwacking and steep hillside climbs by Big Al (Prato),
Daring Del (Bean) and Conquering Concetta (Deodati), but the massive
rock continues to elude our group...Or perhaps aliens have mysteriously
transported it to an unknown location. EE Hikers are suspending their
hikes for two weeks, but hope to head for the high country later this
summer. Interested in joining the hikers? E-mail Kris Bean at
delainekristin@hotmail.com to be added to the list.
Palm
Tree Trimming Notice From the Board
This notice is from the Board to all homeowners with tall palm
trees on their property. "We have had fires in untrimmed palms more
than once, and such a fire poses a serious danger of igniting homes by
falling on rooftops. Trimming these palms is a critical issue due to the
fact they are lightning magnets, and every year in Green Valley there
are fires caused by lightning striking untrimmed palms. If one of these
fell on a roof in here, it could burn out the entire 4 or 5 houses in
the row. There is a real possibility of jeopardy to life and property.
The trimming should not take place until the month of June, but
absolutely needs to be done by July 15 to avoid the worst of
the monsoon lightning storms. The HOA absolutely requires this to be
done as a safety issue, and if owners refuse, or neglect it, then the
HOA will be forced to do it and will assess the Homeowner at cost plus a
50% surcharge. Your cooperation in this matter will be appreciated and
it is in the best interest of both you and your neighbors to arrange for
the necessary trimming. The HOA uses the Monstrosity Tree Service
because they do a good job at a competitive price; however, owners can
use anyone they please.
You
can contact Monstrosity Tree Service at: (520) 230-7131 or (520)
625-TREE.
Monstrosity
will make arrangements to do the trimming even if owners are not in
residence. They will also generally give owners the same rate they charge the HOA--a discount from their normal charge--if the work is done while they
are trimming EE common area trees."
