Monday Morning Memo-------------------May 19th

Good Morning:

The May Board meeting will be held today at Sunset Ramada, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The agenda for the meeting appears below.

Two volunteers have been identified to fill the recent resignations from the HOA Board, both outstanding candidates, who will be appointed in the near future. They are Barb McCalpin and Sam Barnard--both well-known names in EE. They have been highly active on our busiest volunteer committees and we expect will bring good ideas and a lot of energy, and we look forward to serving with them.

About 40 teachers enjoyed an end of school get together and barbeque at Sunset Ramada on May 10th, sponsored by one of the teachers who lives in Esperanza Estates. Reported they had a good time, and expressed some envy of our fine facility.

Our Hospitality Committee plans its annual Memorial Day function at Sunset Ramada on May 26th. This is the summer "kick-off" party, and is always a good one. Cocktails will begin at 4:30, and a pot luck supper will begin at 5. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. The Committee will provide ice, mixers, soft drinks and water. Bring your own alcohol. A cake will also be furnished for dessert. We’ll see you there!

The Border Patrol has given SAV (Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers) and the Sherriff’s office a new hot line phone number---to be used only if you spot a problem and can monitor it until the Border Patrol arrives. The number is 514-4662. Please DO NOT call this number for information, or any other reason. Instead, use the regular BP number, 514-4700 for informational calls, or 877-HELP.

There will be a meeting of the Citizen’s Advisory Board to discuss contacts with the Border Patrol on May 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the GVCCC office meeting room, suite 13 at the Green Valley Mall. Space is limited at this facility, so if you wish to attend, plan on arriving early.

GVCCC also intends to hold a meeting this summer to address the issue of rentals in Green Valley and tenants failing to follow subdivision rules as provided in CC&R’s. If you wish to have questions answered, or get an item on this meetings agenda, please email Dick Robert at rrrgv@aol.com When a specific date is set for the meeting, it will be reported.

Work continues on the new planting bed behind the new entrance monument on Portillo. Joe and Barb McCalpin and Jim and Geri Lindberg have purchased plants for the bed, and Stoney Brown has been performing some of his rock magic there as well. The area is shaping up very nicely.

The Pima County Health Department is sponsoring a free clinic for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella for the entire month of May. Services are available from 9 to 7 weekdays and 9 to 3 Saturday at 600 S. Alvernon Way in Tucson. A Green Valley clinic is available by appointment only (648-1626). Should you know someone who might benefit from this service, please pass this along.

Have a good week. Perhaps a little less wind? The prognosticators say the ice will break on the Santa Cruz today--first 100 degree day of the year.
