Monday Morning Memo

Board Meeting
It's that time again. The HOA Board will meet at 1:00 p.m. today in the Ramada. Residents are always welcome to attend and ask questions or offer ideas. Meetings are informative and often entertaining. At this time of year, they're usually pretty quick too. The standard agenda appears at the end of this memo.

Coffee & Donuts
The Cookes and the Millers will host the last complimentary coffee and donuts of the season this Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. (it's okay to show up a bit early) in the Ramada.  A good chance to see neighbors as many other activities have already come to a halt.

All Fired Up
Over twenty-five eager pizza makers (or eaters) attended Kevin Welsh's training session on using EE's new wood fired oven at Parque Felicidad. The oven was up to temperature just in time for lunch, so they tried their hands at baking pizza. Using the oven is a bit tricky and it will take you a couple of tries to master the art, but you can always eat your attempts. There will be more training sessions in the fall, and you must attend one to be authorized to use the oven.

Weeds, Wind and Water
Weeds have been springing up around EE, but our weed sprayers, Tom Cooke and Boyd Morse, are back in action after a delay due to the windy weather.  We hope residents will follow their lead and keep their own yards weed free this summer.
Speaking of wind, the new trees at Parque Felicidad have been doing a lot of swaying. Thanks to Bill Berdine for installing additional stakes. The trees are growing at an astounding rate and should be providing shade sooner than you would have expected. Kudos to Bill and Dick Carver for diligently working to eradicate the aphids and thrips.
Parque Felicidad has irrigation, but other areas of EE don't. We commend Dave Sielken for continuing to be the water brigade for those areas.

Same Great Feature, New Location
The very popular Book Exchange in the EE pool area is now located next to the refrigerator outside the women's shower room.  The new location will provide better protection from the weather. Thanks to all the residents who donate books for others to use and to Cindy Krantz for maintaining the exchange.

Where's Tom?
Tom and Melodye Cooke appeared front and center, and everywhere else, in the Green Valley News feature on tours of the Green Valley Hospital. Tom's green shirt made him easy to spot in 6 of the 10 photos published.  Melodye's white sweater and pink blouse shirt showed up in 4.  Who knew EE had two senior super models?

If you missed the tour of the hospital, you can view a slide presentation by clicking here.  Thanks to Carla Goings and Horace Hicks for sending the link.

Don't Leave Home without It
Going out alone for a walk?  Neighborhood Watch suggests always carrying enough personal i.d. to allow first-responders to quickly render assistance in case of an emergency.  A cell phone helps too.

In Memoriam
