Green Valley, Az.

May 18th

Good Morning:

The regular May Board meeting will be held today at Sunset Ramada, beginning at 1:00 pm. All residents are invited to attend. An agenda appears below this edition of the Memo.

The Hospitality Committee’s last Hamburger Nite will be held tomorrow, Tuesday May 19 at the Ramada, beginning at 4:30. Come on down and enjoy this final fling, which is always a good time. There won't be another until the Fall, so don’t miss it.

Gamblers and Handicappers: Interested in a fun gamble? On Tuesday at the Hamburger Nite, chances will sold for one buck each for two events: the date of the first monsoon rainfall producing one quarter inch or more, and the total rainfall for the monsoon this year which accumulates by the period ending September 15.  Winners will be awarded half the total pot.  The other half will go toward additional sun/wind screens for the Ramada.  Official totals from the local governmental weather station will be used to determine the winners. See Melodye or Sheila at the Hamburger Nite festivities to buy a chance.

About 25 people enjoyed the last Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada this past Wednesday.  This event will be back again in the fall, beginning in September.  It is always the second Wednesday of the month, so mark your calendar.   It’s a freebee, and always a social time.  Watch the Memo for start times, as they vary with the seasons.

The cool deck refurbishment was completed this week, and the new surface looks great. If you have not already done so stop and have a look. Even if you are not a regular pool/spa user, you will be proud of the way the pool area now looks. All of the old cracks have been filled and the entire area re-coated twice with a special surface material. The work was done by Ekonomy Pool Service of Tucson.  We took this opportunity to spray the weeds in the pool enclosure, and the blow accumulated debris from the pool cover.  The cover needs a power washing as well, which will be done in the near future. The pool has now reopened.

The Scandinavian Club of Green Valley enjoyed a picnic last Tuesday at Sunset Ramada. Remember, our Ramada is there for your use, so if you have a function you would like to hold there, arrangements can be made. There is currently no charge for its use, unless you use supplies belonging to the HOA for which a nominal charge is made. The Board is developing an application blank which will need to be completed for its use. Call 399-0455 for more information or to make arrangements.

Remember when you are away from Green Valley and wish to continue to read the Periodico, it is always available at esperanzaestates.net where it is posted promptly after publication each month, except July and August when the Board is in recess.

We have had a report of something stolen from an open garage. This is a reminder to always keep your garage door closed when you are not present. Unfortunately our neighborhood isn’t as honest as it once may have been and it's up to all of us to use vigilance to protect our own property.

A friend of EE resident Denise Roessle is in dire need of a car.  Under $5,000, mid-size, automatic; year, make and model don't matter but low mileage does.  If you know of anyone with such a car for sale, please call Sandy Blum at 829-7899.

Melodye Cooke and Sheila Bennen took advantage of the fare-free week (Through May 31, 2009) and rode the Sun Shuttle bus in Green Valley. They enjoyed the ride and found the driver well informed of the route and the rules. They encourage everyone to acquaint themselves with this service white the fare is still free. Route 425, Green Valley town center, has a marked bus stop in front of the Family Dollar Store in the Green Valley Village. It leaves at 7:20 am, 8:40 am, 10:00am, 11:20 am, 12:40pm, 2:00pm and 3:20pm. Schedules are available on the bus, and Melodye has a few available to give away. Call 399-0455. The Shuttle makes numerous stops around Green Valley--being the places you want to go. Other routes go to Tucson. Check the schedules for details. Ridership is important for this service to be successful and to continue, so please support the Sun Shuttle, save gasoline and wear and tear on your own car.

Have a good week. Hope to see you at the meeting today, and at Hamburger Nite on Tuesday.
