Rush to Wednesday Night's Movie
The 2013 movie Rush begins at 7 pm Wednesday evening in the Ramada.  Not a fan of auto racing?  This film about the 1970's rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt will pick you up and pull you around the track with it.  Don't miss it.  Thanks to Linda and Kevin Welsh for lining up another hit. Shower Room Safety Enhanced
Thanks to the Enhancement Team for funding an upgrade to the the restrooms in the pool area, and to handyman Greg Gramstad for doing the work.  New hand rails all the way from the shower stalls to the exit doors and non-skid strips on the floors will make it a lot safer to use the showers. 

Successful Cinco de Mayo
Congratulations to the summer crew of the Hospitality Committee led by Linda Sielken for a great fiesta last Monday.  The committee was delighted when attendance, estimated at over 80, exceeded expectations, proving once again that Esperanzans like their parties. Residents provided some great Mexican fare, and the frozen chocolate covered bananas were "to die for."  Janet Kawalski took the honors as the pinata game champ. The committee is planning a Fourth of July gathering, and several residents have offered to sponsor free margarita nights. Stay tuned for details.

Board Meeting
The May Board meeting will take place next Monday, May 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada.  Plans for the proposed shade park near the sports courts will be presented.

Magic Anyone?
From Sandy Reed: "I am a retired amateur magician and have a lot of rigged playing cards, rope ties, fake thumbs, magic kettle, etc. plus a lot of books on magic. My slight of hand is a bit too slow these days to put on a show. Therefore, I would like to give this box of paraphernalia away free to anyone interested. GVC Directory Cover Contest
GVC has announced the theme for the 2015 community directory: Archways, Doors and More of our Santa Cruz Valley.  Artists of all mediums are encouraged to enter.  All entries must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014. It would be great for an EE resident to win.
