Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
The annual Cinco de Mayo potluck will be held at the Ramada on
Saturday, May 5, starting at 4:30. Please bring a dish to share, all
the better if it is Mexican or southwestern. The Hospitality Committee
will provide soda, water and margaritas. This is one of our best events
of the year, and many residents wear colorful theme appropriate attire.
Please remember the Food Bank bin when you come to any Ramada event, and
make a contribution if you can.
EE Hikers Headin' Out Again
A small band of diehard EE hikers will head out again today. Although
many of the faithful have retreated to the northlands, a few hardy souls
continue to strike out in the wilderness determined to bypass a trail
marker or two. If you'd like to join them, they'll be leaving from the
EE Ramada at 8 a.m. this morning. Bring plenty of water.
They'll be headed to Madera Canyon for a hike with some beautiful
scenery. Car fare will be $3 per person.
Morning Water Aerobics
Judy Lang and Terry Jackson will begin the Morning Water Aerobics
on Wednesday, May 2. So grab your towel and head for the EE pool
to enjoy the music, good company and fantastic exercise. Classes will
continue on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8-9 a.m.
Angie Lear hopes to return to the water soon. She thanks her
friends and neighbors for their cards, visits, prayers and encouragement
during her illness.
Sleeping in?? You still have another chance to exercise in the water
from 3-4 p.m. on Tues and Thurs.
Tennis Anyone?
Tennis enthusiasts meet at the EE Tennis/Pickleball Courts at 8 a.m.
on Fridays, and there's always room for more. Sixty to ninety
minutes of tennis is followed by an optional group breakfast at a local
restaurant.
Computer Group
The Computer Group continues to meet at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays at
the Ramada. This is a small group, so you get individual help with your
basic computer questions. It's currently geared toward beginners, so all
you need is a laptop or tablet and a desire to improve your skills. If
there are specific areas you would like covered, email Craig Surprise at
ee-webmaster@msn.com.
Pickleball Players Still Active
Recreational pickleball continues to meet at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday,
Thursday and Sunday. Seriously competitive pickleball players go
head-to-head on Saturday mornings at 8.
Construction Update
The water and sewer installations were completed last week. The
excavator will be back early this week to replace the cold patches of
asphalt with a hot asphalt permanent patch and to clean up some of the
dirt.
Letter Carriers Food Drive
The Letter Carriers Food Drive is scheduled for Saturday, May 12. This
is a yearly event which really helps the Green Valley -- Sahuarita
Community Food Bank. You can leave food donations in bags next to your
mail box and your carrier will pick them up. Or you can bring them to
the Food Bank on 250 E. Continental Drive between 11:00 and 5:00.
Monetary donations are also accepted.
Weed Control
Please keep in mind the CC&Rs require weed control for all yards during
the summer months. You should make arrangements for weed control before
leaving EE, and if you have already left without doing so, you should
contact some person or company to assure that your yard will be tended
to in your absence. Failure to comply will result in problems and
expense for you and for the HOA, so we ask that you please not leave
your home without attention to this matter. Your cooperation is very
much appreciated, by your HOA and by your neighbors who live in EE all
year.
Embracing the Moon
Did the photo in last Wednesday's GV News look familiar? Sue Reiser's
photo "Embracing the Moon," taken from her patio on Holgado, was picked
up by the GV News when it appeared in the April Periodico as the
'Photo
of the Month' winner. Congratulations to Sue for her great photography.
Free Lava Rocks
Some EE residents would like to give away the lava rocks in front of
their home. If you are interested in having them, please call Tom at
398-7178.
Pool/Spa Temperature
One of the pool thermometers was showing a temperature of about 10
degrees lower than the actual water temperature. Blue tape has been
placed over it to avoid confusion until it can be replaced.
New Pool Gate Latch
Thanks to Ben Sheffield and Eric Ellingson, a new latch system has been
installed on the right gate to the pool area. The new system will
facilitate entry for people who need the gate to remain open a bit
longer than it previously did while they enter the area. To operate the
system, push the gate until the pin reaches the latch on the trash
enclosure wall. To close the gate, just pull the cord, which will
release the pin from the latch.
Dispose-a-Med Program
You can safely dispose of your old medications by placing them (in
the original containers) in the expired medication disposal bins located at
each GV fire station (250 N. La Canada, 3005 S. Camino del Sol at
Encanto, and 210 E. Continental Road at Abrego) and the Sahuarita Police
Department (315 West Sahuarita Center Way). Only medications,
supplements, inhalers and unused analgesic pads may be disposed of in
the bins.
