Don't Be Late--It's Pickleball at 8
Join in the fun on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 8 am.
Players at all levels are welcome at every session. The more the
merrier. Just get there early enough to beat the heat.
Movies Are Back
Kevin and Linda Welsh have returned from visiting their new grandson, so
EE's Wednesday night movies resume this Wednesday. Now that evenings are
comfortable, and many activities have ended for the season, the popular
movie night is a great chance to socialize and watch a good movie.
Show time is 7:00 p.m. at the Ramada. Admission is a donation to
the Arts Club ($2 suggested).
This week's film is Django Unchained. Set in the South two years
before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a
slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face
with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz).
Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only
Django can lead him to his bounty. Honing vital hunting skills, Django
remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry
Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Your EE Neighbors
and Friends
Sunday evening at 4:30 pm the Hospitality Committee will be hosting a
Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Ramada. Wear your most colorful party
garb and bring a dish to share. This is the perfect occasion for your
favorite Mexican recipe. Rumor has it that margaritas will be added to
the available beverage menu. Muscleman Moulton, last year's pinata
champ, will be defending his title.
Please remember the Community Food Bank when you come to Ramada events,
and bring a donation if you can.
Let There Be Light
Lamp post out? A free, EEHOA approved replacement light bulb is just a
phone call away. Contact one of the light bulb keepers, Tom Cooke
(399-0455), Dean Hess (398-4829) or Joe McCalpin (867-8067). Many winter
residents have left for the season, so please let Tom, Dean or Joe know
if you notice a bulb out on a vacant home.
Traffic Alert
Beginning Monday, April 29, 2013, at 6 a.m. through Tuesday, April 30,
2013, at 6 p.m., Union Pacific Railroad will close the crossing on South
Mission Road, north of Duval Mine Road to repair tracks at this
location. Motorists will have to seek alternate routes during this time.
Kathy Sawin's Artwork
If you are in the area of Greenfield, Wisconsin (a suburb of Milwaukee)
before May 3, you may want to stop in to view the artwork of EE
homeowner Kathy Sawin, which will be on display at the art gallery at
Clement Manor.
Just Sit Back and Read
Feel like the whirlwind of activity is winding down? Pick up a copy of
Barbara Kingsolver's, Flight Behavior. The EE Book Club meeting
is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, so you've plenty of time to read it
before the discussion. For more information contact Kathy Lavanway at
kathylavanway@gmail.com or Cindy Krantz at
krantzcindys@yahoo.com.
Health Care Changes for 2014
The Green Valley News reports that scammers are using confusion
about new healthcare laws to fraudulently obtain personal information by
phone--claiming that the information is necessary for continued
coverage. Don't be fooled! And NEVER give out personal information
over the phone, or through e-mail.
(A licensed insurance broker that I've worked with has provided this
information: "Beginning January 2014, everyone must have Medical
Insurance, with few exceptions, or pay a penalty. Medicare, VA, and any
other government plan meets this requirement. If you are on a Group
Insurance plan through your employer you are ok. Anyone under the age of
65 with current coverage and those without Medical Insurance Coverage
need to choose a plan during the period from October to December for
coverage to begin in January, 2014.")
