Monday Morning Memo

Hungry Javelinas
Sadly, the roving javelinas discovered the Food Bank bin at the Ramada and destroyed a considerable amount of the donations.  The bin has now been moved to the back counter in the kitchen where hopefully they can't reach it.  (Unless of course one javelina can boost up another.) Please remember the Food Bank when you clean out your pantry before leaving for the summer.  You can also donate unopened frozen goods by dropping them off at the Food Bank office on Whitehouse Canyon Road.

Coney Island Night
The fun begins at 4:30pm Tuesday at the Ramada with Franks and Fixin's on the menu.  All Beef Hebrew National Franks, chips, brownies and libations are yours for only $5.

EE Artisans United

EE's Art Club and Fiber Arts Groups have united to form a single arts group, EE Artisans, to foster arts and crafts in our neighborhood. Barbara Copeland will be knitting this group together as it's new president. The new group will be holding workshops starting in the fall.  They also plan to hold an art fair in November where artistic residents can sell their creations.

Help the Gardeners
If you can help the Gardeners make plant markers by writing plant names on tiles, please call Stacie Meyer at 859-691-1121.

Flag Flying at Flag Park
Thanks to a donation by Sam Simonson and his family in memory of June Simonson, a new flag pole and flag have been installed at what's commonly known as Flag Park on Camino Holgado. Approximately 40 residents turned out for the flag raising ceremony last Wednesday.  They were treated to hot dogs and chips provided by Jim and Barbara Copeland.  Jim did the honors at the grill, inaugurating the new barbecue grill at the park.  Scottie Blum has volunteered to raise the flag on holidays.

NO Golf Tourney on the 20th
The EE team participation in the Desert Hills Scramble on April 20th has been cancelled.

Board to Meet Monday, April 20
The EE HOA Board will hold their monthly meeting next Monday at 1pm at the Ramada.

Migration
It isn't only our residents who start migrating north in May.  Flocks of birds are tucking their little suitcases under their wings, and the Friends of Madera Canyon celebrates the occasion on Madera Canyon International Migratory Bird Day, Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free guided bird and nature walks, educational demonstrations and more.

In Memoriam
We are saddened to learn that Jerry Miholer has passed away.  Our condolences to his family.
