Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

April 12

Good Morning:

117 Esperanza Estates volunteers were honored at a special dinner at Sunset Ramada this past Friday. This annual event is held to recognize all of our volunteers and show our appreciation for all that they do to keep our subdivision strong, attractive, managed, and moving ahead.
The EE Volunteer of the Year award went to Tess and Lance Ewing, who were presented the plaque, and whose names have been inscribed on the permanent Volunteer of the Year memorial.
A special award of honorary membership in the EEHOA was presented to Gary Beatty for all the help he has provided over the past 2 years at the tennis/pickleball court. He was also given the “Head Pickle” award from all of his pickleball students, and presented with his official “I Help Esperanza Estates“ hat.

The Volunteer Dinner was a very nice, catered affair, with a lot of help from our Hospitality Committee, who very nicely decorated Sunset Ramada for the event, provided drinks, dessert, and coffee. Many thanks to all who helped out with this very successful and enjoyable evening.

The April Hospitality Committee Hamburger Nite will he held tomorrow, Tuesday evening, April 13, at Sunset Ramada. Plan on attending for this always fun time. Start time, 4:30 p.m. Cost, $5.00. Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, and Veggie burgers, drinks, chips, table service, and condiments are available for the price.  A better deal just won’t be found!

Please remember to bring something for the Food Bank.
Bins will be available, and they continue to need the help.

Free Coffee and Donuts will be served at the Ramada on April 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. We’ll see you there. No meeting, no agenda, just a social time to enjoy a cup and a donut with friends and neighbors. As our winter visitors are beginning to head north again, this may be the last of these events for this spring, so don’t miss it. It is a great way to begin your day, and leave you with a smile.

If you haven't yet bought a copy of our recent best-seller, "The Love Stories of Esperanza Estates", put $10 aside right now! Sandy Reed promises to have the few remaining copies available at our April 13 Hamburger Nite and at the Coffee & Donuts get-together the next morning, April 14. The stories are interesting and entertaining and offer some insights into the fascinating people who make up our Esperanza community.

The next meeting of the Xeriscape Garden Committee has been changed to Thursday, April 15th, 9:30 a.m., at the Ramada. We'll be joined by several representatives from the Pro Neighborhoods organization to discuss our application for a grant. We will also have a planning session to determine how to proceed. Please plan on attending if at all possible. A good turnout will show our interest and support for the project. See you there!

One of our EE new residents, Lothar Koenigs, who lives at 1211 Calle Excelso, has "adopted" the little common area park behind his house. In fact, he spruced it up by giving the bench in that area a new coat of paint, which looks very nice. "Adopt a park" was one of the items on the list of volunteer activities that was handed out at the newcomers Bienvenidos brunch in March.  The HOA is always interested in seeing volunteers adopt one of our park areas, an alleyway, or any other common area, or part of a common area. If you might be interested in doing so, whether you are a newcomer or an old timer in EE, call Tom at 399-0455 for particulars.

Remember that Sunset Ramada is available for your use for a private party, meeting, event, etc. It is a great place to gather. It is your Ramada to use and enjoy. The usage is at no cost and only a few simple rules apply. Call Tom at 399-0455 for any details.

An exemplar of the new street light lamp head has been installed on the lamp post at the Ramada entrance if you would like to take a look at it. Thanks to Ben Sheffield for the installation and all of his help on this project. Ben negotiated a price on each unit several dollars below what we expected to have to pay. The HOA sincerely appreciates all of his help.

The regular April meeting of the EE Board of Directors will be held next week, on April 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada. An agenda will follow next week’s Memo. Remember that work on the pool and spa will begin that day as well, and they will both be closed for approximately 2 weeks.
