Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

March 7

Good Morning:

The Enhancement Team's big annual Yard and Bake Sale, this past Saturday was a big success. More than $3,600 was raised--all of which (after some minor expenses) will be spent in EE for projects to benefit our neighborhood. The Enhancement Team wishes to thank all of the donors of items for the sale, and the baked goods--and all of the EE residents that shopped at the sale. The few items that were not sold will be donated to the White Elephant, where they will be sold to help charitable institutions in Green Valley. Everybody wins at the Team's events.

The first meeting of the EE Garden Club took place last week at the Ramada, attended by 9 interested residents. It was decided to come up with beautification plans for the Esperanza Blvd. and Portillo entrance monuments as well as the Sunset Ramada monument and Ramada entrance. The goal is to enhance the appearance of the selected areas, as a reflection of our pride in our EE community. Plans include rearranging existing plantings into more thoughtful designs, adding some colorful pottery, and adding flowering flora that will complement the recently added, colorful tile.

A second project for the Club will be the beautification of the EE Walking Trail and the addition of benches at various places along the Trail to enable walkers to sit and enjoy the view and the landscape.

The Garden Club will meet today at the Ramada at 1:30, to continue the beautification planning. Interested residents with thoughts and ideas on improving the appearance of EE are welcome, and encouraged to attend. The Club needs your ideas and your enthusiasm to be successful. Contact Bill Berdine (344-7301) for further information.

This Thursday, March 10th at 1 p.m., Mr. John Haggerty, representing GVR4US, has agreed to host a question-and- answer session at the Sunset Ramada to discuss the upcoming GVR elections, ballot issues and pending lawsuits involving GVR. Mr. Haggerty is an attorney who has questioned some of the actions and decisions of the GVR board and staff. We have also invited a representative of GVR to participate. Due to limited space, we request that you respond to the email address boylin@cox.net before Thursday to indicate your interest in attending and how many will be in your party.

Coming food & social get-togethers at the Sunset Ramada:
 our next Hamburger Nite is tomorrow, Tuesday, March 8, with food from 5 o'clock;
 the next Free Coffee & Donuts on Wednesday, March 16;
 an Italian Night Dinner, on Saturday, March 19, with an array of Italian appetizers, pasta, and accompaniments. Tickets for the dinner, just $10/person, will be available at Hamburger Nite, and from Hospitality Committee members.

Remember: March 15 is the deadline for submitting your photos for the Periodico's Photo of the Month Contest. Email entries to: droessle@mac.com [mailto:droessle@mac.com], or deliver them on a CD to 801 W. Circulo Napa. Photos of any subject, taken around EE within the past year, are allowed. The winner receives free entry to the next 'burger nite as well as having their photo published on the Periodico front cover!

Distribution of the 2011 GVC Community Directory was completed last week. If you did not receive a copy, contact Charl Petry at 648-2541, or your usual Periodico delivery person to request one.

Have a good week.
