Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, Az.

March 30th

Good Morning:

We are receiving reports of snakes being active in EE, as well as coyotes and javelinas, so if you are an early or late walker, use caution, and be sure you have a flashlight if it is dark.

The electrical conduit and fan/light brackets at Sunset Ramada have all been painted our Norfolk brown EE color, and Travertine where appropriate, causing them to blend in to the ceiling area and masonry quite nicely.
Thanks to Greg Gramstad for his careful work on this project.

Another saga in our failing light post situation recently came to the fore, when one of the posts near Sunset Ramada fell over while it was being painted, having rusted off at the base as so many of them have.  It was promptly repaired by Emil Ziemer and Paul Rowland, two of our resident very handy men, who also installed another light post right at the entrance to the Ramada. It was believed some additional lighting was needed in this area. Check this out the next time you are at the Ramada. This post was intentionally given a distinctive fixture, which is very attractive.

As an aside, during the work to replace the light post that had fallen over, a cut wire was found in the earth. After reconnecting it, two additional outlets in the Ramada were powered up. They had not worked for years, but now do.

The Valle Verde Rotary Club held a social function at Sunset Ramada last Friday evening, and for its use, made a $75 donation to our HOA. At a recent drive, the Club donated over three thousand dollars to the Green Valley Food Bank.

The new amplifier for the Ramada sound system has arrived and been installed. The final element of the system, a CD player is en route to us at present, having been donated by our webmaster and his wife, Craig and Cynthia Surprise. Upon its receipt, it will be permanently installed in one of the newly constructed cabinets, where it will be available for use. Many thanks to Eric Ellingson and Lance Ewing for their work on the installation, and to Craig and Cynthia for the donation.

Eric and Lance also did some repair work on the counter tile in the Ramada.

Mary Beth Wallace, Chairperson for our Neighborhood Watch Committee, reports the following:

Monday I received a call from Mary Lou Sampson, NW coordinator for SAV.  Thurs. April 9th at 9AM the EEHOA Block Captains/Assistants are invited to attend a presentation by a Pima Co Deputy Sheriff.  Subject: Importance of NW programs, what is going on in the area, other items of interest. The program is at the SAV office. Title of program is 'Coffee & Cop Talk.'  I have contacted all by phone, with the exception of a few Kaye Miller volunteered to contact. As of today I have 22 that are planning on attending. Those that can not attend have appointment conflicts.  I have suggested they car pool due to the parking problems in that area.  Much worse now with the construction project.
There will be other HOA's there also.

Arleen Boyuls, the editor of the Periodico, has produced another outstanding issue for March. Thanks much Arleen!

Coming social events:
  Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada,  April 8, 9:30 am (featuring a special episode this time-watch for details);
  Hamburger Nite,  April 21.

Have a good week. Be careful as April Fool’s Day is near.
