Will Hidden Valley Remain Hidden?
EE's hardy hikers head out to the Tucson Mountains today
at 8:00 am in quest of Hidden Valley and the Stone
House. With Fearless Leader Marian Mundale at the head of
the pack, hikers will traverse 4 miles with a 400 foot
elevation gain and return to the Ramada by
1:30 pm--unless some of them veer off for a burger and beer
at Tiny's on the way home.
Bring a quart or more of water, snacks and poles for rocky
downhill footing.

Silver
Screen Shines
Wednesday Movies are
back at the Ramada this week with the 1987 romantic comedy
Moonstruck. Both Cher and Olympia Dukakis won Oscars for their
performances in this complicated tale. A $2 donation to the Arts
Club is appreciated. The show starts at 7:00
pm. |
$uccessful $aturday $ale
Thanks to the EE Enhancement Team, the Annual Ramada Sale
proved to be another success. Friday's Sneek Peek gave EE
residents a chance to garner special bargains. All told, the
event raised over $4,300 to be used for EE improvements. The
efforts of Bev
Brow, Sandi Oster, Craig Surprise, Carolyn Acher, Barb
McCalpin and and all of the team for their
continued support of EE. Special thanks to our crack
security team of Bruce
Liljegren, Joe McCalpin, Gary Rautio, Terry Shay and Ben
Sheffield, who spent the night guarding the
treasures.
Want to join in the fun and contribute to our neighborhood?
The Enhancement Team is scheduled to meet Monday,
March 10 at 10 am at the Ramada.

SSSSausage Fessst Ssssizzles
Chefs Al Prato, Terry Shay, and Kevin Welsh donned
their aprons, grabbed their tongs and served up fantastic fare
at last Wednesday's Sausage Fest. EEers arrived in droves (How
many are in a drove, anyway?) and downed the food as fast as it
was prepared. The Optimists collected more than $700 and the
hospitality account managed to post a net gain of $50. Another
great evening thanks to the Hospitality Hotties (Well, maybe
they'll go by another name.) with Marla
Ries taking
a turn at the helm. |
Want Sausage?
If you loved the Optimists' sausages, you can still order
them until Sunday March 16. Call Terry
Shay at
815-690-6178 or Kevin
Welsh at
231-838-6851 to place your order.

The next meeting of the Home Decor/Fiber Arts Group will be
held at the Ramada at 10:00
on Thursday, March 6. Learn how color choices in your
wardrobe can work for or against you. Discover the four seasons
of color and which season suits you the best. To help with the

of clothing for comparison and illustration. |
Sprayin'
of the Green Just in Time for St Patty's Day
Message
from Tom Cooke
"The official
HOA weed control program began on Thursday, and will continue on
until the weed season is over or all weeds are under control.
The blue/green material you see sprayed around the common areas
and parking strips is a harmless vegetable-based dye, used to
show where the spray has been applied. It will not harm
anything, and dissipates in air and sunlight within a day or
two. The weed killer used is a standard formula control
solution, not harmful to pets or cactus, and mixed in the
weakest solution possible that will still be effective against
weeds. If it appears your area has been missed, be advised the
spraying has just started and all common areas will be sprayed
over the next couple of weeks, and spraying will be repeated as
necessary thereafter for the entire season. This is a service of
your HOA.
It remains the responsibility of each owner (except in quads) to keep your yard weed-free, and to make arrangements for yard
care over the summer months if you intend to be gone. We ask for
the cooperation of all EE owners to assure compliance with this
requirement. If due to physical or financial considerations you
are unable to address the weed problem in your yard, help is
available. Please call 399-0455 to make arrangements." |
Lost and Found
Al Prato found a portable air pump lying in the middle of
Vereda Calma. Contact Al at 269-7217 if it is yours.
Did you buy a Sharpe wireless weather station at the Ramada
Sale on Friday? To get the instruction booklet that
accompanied the item, contact Cynthia Surprise at
857-209-1978.

Rain! Can Blooms Be Far Behind?
Residents around EE have reported totals up to 1.9
inches. Time for the Texas Ranger Countdown. Purportedly
the silver-leafed desert-adapted lovelies put forth their
lavender, deep purple or white blooms 10 days after a rain.
