Monday Morning Memo

7 Falls--The Destination NOT the Safety Record
EE's Hikers head out to a "not for the faint-hearted" hike in Sabino Canyon today.  A $3 tram ride takes hikers to the Seven Falls trailhead.  Traversing numerous water crossings and steep, rocky drop-offs for a 5 mile, 1100 foot elevation gain hike should bring most hikers out of the wilderness in time for a late lunch at McGraws. The $6 carfare does not include any rescue helicopter services needed.
Monday, March 31, will see surviving EE hikers trudging up and down (and up and down and up and down and....) the hills of the Brown Mountain Trail in the Tucson Mountains. Plan on 4 miles with an 800 foot elevation gain. Carfare is $5. Is a detour to Tiny's in the picture?
Water!!!!! Snacks for energy!!!! Poles for safety!!! Surely we need not repeat ourselves.
EE's Annual Drive-in Movie Night
This Wednesday, March 26, the driveway of Donna and Terry Shay's house on Circulo del Sur is transformed into a drive-in movie theater.  Bring your folding chairs or golf carts and drive up to see Gravity, a science fiction thriller starring Sandra Bullock.
Help Beautify the "Gateway to Esperanza"
Tired of driving by the barren median on Esperanza Blvd? Here's your chance to help enhance the area. Median Green has developed a detailed plan of plants and boulders to improve the area (view the plan on the Ramada bulletin board) and the Enhancement Team has donated $800 towards the effort. EE is looking for a volunteer to co-ordinate the project, as well as volunteers to help plant and maintain the area, and donations to fully fund the project.
If you are willing to head up a team of volunteers to implement the plan, contact Barb McCalpin at 867-8067. Also let Barb know if you would be interested in working on the project or making a donation. You can read more about the project in the March issue of the Periodico.
It's Water -- Cool, Clear, Water
Hank Williams may not have had the EE pool area in mind when he sang those words, but thanks to the Enhancement Team and Tom Cooke, you'll be able to pour a refreshing glass of water or get ice for your beverage while you bask in the sun.  The Enhancement Team donated a refrigerator from the Ramada sale, and Tom made some necessary repairs to the in-the-door water and ice dispenser.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event
GVC will hold the next HHWD day on Saturday, April 19 in the parking lot of Valley Presbyterian Church.  Joe McCalpin is heading up the event, and is looking for volunteers to work on it.  Many EE residents have been part of this effort in the past, and Joe is hoping that volunteer spirit will continue.
If you are interested in participating, call Pat Sharpe at 625-7716 or Joe at 867-0867.
Art Appreciation
The EE Adventure Group will head up to the Tucson Museum of Art on Thursday April 3. Join us on our own personal tour by EE resident and museum docent Linda Hoy.  To sign up for the adventure, contact Cynthia Surprise at cjsurprise@verizon.net.  Admission to the museum is $8.00 for seniors. Read more about the museum and Linda Hoy in the February issue of the Periodico.
Sock It to Them
Ken and Patty Adler had a little surprise in store for the Millers and the Cookes at Coffee & Donuts last Wednesday. In appreciation of their sponsorship of this popular event, the Adlers presented them with a pair of "Coffee Time" socks.  Check out their feet at the C&D next month.
