Nature Trail or Roger's Rock?
There'll be a vote of the vigorous, as the EE Hikers meet at 8 am
this morning to raise their hiking poles in support of their
favorite Madera Canyon Trail: Nature Trail with 3.6 miles and a 600 foot
gain in elevation or Roger's Rock with 5 miles and a 900 foot gain.
Bring $2 for carfare if you plan on heading out with the hearty band.
Get On Board Today
Today at 1 pm is the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the
EEHOA Board. Get there a bit early to select a comfy cushion or two, sit
back, relax and watch a fine example of local governance take place. The
agenda is waaaay down there at the bottom of the Memo.
Book Group Gathers Tuesday
EE's own book group meets at 2 pm Tuesday for their monthly
literary discussion. Come to contribute your wisdom regarding Khaled
Hosseni's And the Mountains Echoed. Next months selection is Going Back
to Bisbee by Richard Shelton.
Color Me Recap
EE's Home Décor group meets Tuesday at 10 in the Ramada to
complete the discussion of using the colors that complement you in your
home and wardrobe.
Catch Up on EE with Coffee and Donuts
Wednesday at 8:30 am the smell of fresh coffee and disappearing
donuts will waft across the Ramada. Join your neighbors for a laugh and
a bite of breakfast, courtesy of the Cookes and the Millers.
Country Hoedown Wednesday
You won't want to miss the Hospitality Committee's latest event this
Wednesday, March 19, starting at 4:30. Pulled pork, baked beans,
cole slaw, beverage and dessert, all for $8.00. Country decor and music
will give the festivities a real down-home feeling.
Contact Marla Ries at 360-708-0855 if you have any decorations to
lend for the event.
For the Birds
Jane Ellingson is periodically visiting Madera Canyon to seek out
her feathered friends. If you would like to accompany her on a birding
trip, give her a call at 625-7782. While Jane claims she is not
an expert, she's been visiting hot birding spots in the area for years,
and is willing to share her knowledge.
Art Adventure
Join the EE Adventure Group on Thursday, April 3, as we explore
the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block. Docent Linda Hoy
will conduct our personal tour. The museum encompasses an entire city
block in historic downtown Tucson, and features original and traveling
exhibitions focusing on Art of Latin America, Art of the American West,
Modern and Contemporary Art and Asian Art. To sign up for the adventure,
contact Cynthia Surprise at
cjsurprise@verizon.net. We'll arrange carpooling, so please indicate
if you are willing to drive.
Big Berthas Bursting with Blooms
Now is the time to catch the annual spectacular display by the Big
Bertha cactus around EE. Catch the show in the early evening or morning
at the following locations: the Palacios home at 110 Napa, the Shay home
at 1118 Circulo del Sur, next to the Sports Courts on del Sur, or behind
the ceramic tortoise in Mountain View Park on Napa.
Kudos
Thanks to Bill Pratt for all his assistance to the HOA. Recently,
Bill did some work on the tractor and the gator, welded some Ramada
chairs, and repaired the faucet in the Ramada kitchen. We also
appreciate the efforts of Tom Cooke and Boyd Morse who have been
out spraying weeds in the common areas. Thanks too to Steve and Cheri
Day for donating a roaster to the Hospitality Committee. These are
example of the generosity of EE residents and their commitment to our
neighborhood.
Home Security Seminar
On Thursday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m., the Pima County Sheriff's
Department will sponsor a free presentation on securing and protecting
your home this summer. The presentation will be held at the GVR East
Center, 7 South Abrego.
