Goodbye Weeds
Tom Cooke and Boyd Morse continue to spray the common areas with
pre-emergent and weed killer, and are convinced they can keep the common
areas virtually weed free at a fraction of the price a commercial
company would charge. They are doing a splendid job, and Tom says it's
actually fun. They hope to train several more two-person teams to help.
Thanks also to Bill Pratt who helped tune up the Gator.
2013 EE Home & Garden Tour
The Enhancement Team and the EE Gardeners are teaming up to sponsor the
EE Home & Garden Tour scheduled for March 24, 2013. If you would
like your home or garden to be considered for the tour, please contact
Jackie Rautio for homes (269-7864) or Cynthia Surprise for gardens
(205-2742).
Dunn-Edwards Paint Discount
Dunn-Edwards in Tucson gives EE homeowners a 10% discount on their
products. You may now obtain the discount at any of their four locations
in Tucson. You must give them the account number (06883000) when you
place the order. They will deliver in Green Valley on a weekly
basis.
If you are planning to do any exterior painting (except touch up) you
must first obtain written permission from the HOA's Architectural
Committee: Jim Lindberg (777-4972) or Joe McCalpin (867-8067).
EE Hikers
A brave contingent of nine EE Hikers traversed the new Camp Hope loop
trail in the Rincons last Monday. After a brief tussle with a tricky
gate chain, Fearless Leader Marian Mundale bravely led the band
of adventurers through the wilderness.
Today's hike will be Proctor to Elephant Head, a 5 mile hike with
300 ft. of elevation on an easy walking road. Car fare will be $2.
Drivers will need to display their National Park passes. The caravan
will leave from the EE Ramada at 8:30 a.m.
Picnic Tables
Thanks to Bill Berdine and Bill Pratt for welding leg braces onto the
picnic tables in Esperanza Estates Park so they are now sturdy.
Wine and Cheese
All EE residents are cordially invited to celebrate the publication of
Denise Roessle's new book, with complimentary wine and cheese at
the Ramada on Sunday, March 18, from 2:00 to 4:00.
GV News Interviews EE Resident
An interesting interview with Charles Pyke, "Your Fascinating Neighbor"
in the February Periodico, appeared in the GV News on Sunday.
March 19 Board Meeting Agenda
Board president Eric Ellingson has submitted the following preview of
important agenda items:
1. "We have been the beneficiary of a gravel delivery error and as a
result have been able to cover a large triangular area which was
previously dirt on Del Norte. This area will eventually be further
improved into a small park by the EE Gardeners. Across the street is a
slightly smaller area which is also dirt and both these areas have been
unattractive sources of dust for too many years. We will ask the board
to approve an expenditure not to exceed $600.00 to provide gravel for
the surface of the area between 1125 and 1149 Del Norte. We have
volunteers who are willing to spread the gravel and this will
substantially reduce the cost of this activity."
2. "An anonymous benefactor has offered to contribute $5,000.00 toward the
construction of restroom facilities at the tennis court providing this
can be done in a reasonable time. We are anxious to take advantage of
this offer and have accelerated our efforts to come up with a practical
approach. Ben Sheffield and Jim Lindberg will be working on the final
details this coming week and we hope to be able to present an actionable
proposal to the board at the March 19 meeting."
If you are interested in either of these projects and wish to present
your views please attend the meeting. There will be an opportunity,
prior to any action by the board, for homeowners to indicate their
support for or objection to either of these proposals."
