Monday Morning Memo--------March 10th

Good Morning:

The Enhancement Team’s giant garage and bake sale was held this past Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. at Sunset Ramada. The Ramada was literally packed with donated items and baked goods for sale. It was the biggest and best sale ever held by our Team. The generosity of our residents in donating articles and baked goods to help the Team was almost overwhelming.

The day before the "official" sale began, EE residents were given a sneak preview and an opportunity to get a jump on the general public, and the sale proceeds that day alone totaled about a thousand dollars. They had a bonanza on Saturday, and the overall total sales, including for the baked goods, was more than $3,000. It was a big success for the team, and a new record.

Among the items available at the sale were coffee and a muffin to enjoy while browsing, at a nominal charge.

Many Team members and other volunteers worked very hard to put on this sale, and our thanks go out to all of them. Every dollar of proceeds from this sale will come back to us in the form of Team projects which make our life in Esperanza Estates more comfortable and enjoyable. The tasks the Team accomplished this year alone are nothing short of amazing--and they join a long list of successful projects in prior years. And everything our Team does is at absolutely no expense to the HOA. They raise all of their own money--and seem to have a good time doing it!

This past season the Team improved the landscaping at our entrance sign on Esperanza Blvd., built us an entirely new masonry entrance sign at our south entrance on Portillo, painted it and paid for the lettering and obtained a nice bell for installation in the arch, contributed to and led the successful drive for the installation of sun/wind screens at the Ramada, contributed to the purchase of heaters for the Ramada, purchased the new "Sunset Ramada" black iron lettering for installation at Sunset Park, repainted the new arch they built for us at the Park last year, and held various fund raisers to pay for it all. All of this in addition to the normal things they do for us every year, such as the Christmas decorations, and general care and attention to detail they always provide for our subdivision. And they are just getting warmed up! Watch the Team next year---there is no stopping them! This is what can happen when we support the Team’s activities. When we help the Team, we help ourselves.

Our Enhancement Team will hold a Coffee Party at 8 a.m. on March 17th at Sunset Ramada, to thank all of our residents for their support of Team projects this past season. Please join the Team for this event, with the Team’s complements.

There will be another of the Hospitality Committee’s famous Hamburger Nights at the Ramada tomorrow, on March 11th. Cocktails begin at 4:30 p.m. and hamburger service begins at 5. Don’t miss it! The last one was a smash success, and this one will be better yet. For alcohol, BYOB. Other drinks are available for sale. Tickets for the Spaghetti Night dinner (details below) on March 25th will be available for sale at this event.

The new pool cover was installed last Monday and Tuesday, and is now operational. The old temporary cover has been disposed of. The new cover is key-operated.

The pool equipment and pump room has been given a thorough cleaning--

perhaps the second time in 25 years or so. Stored in the room was a serviceable trash can, which has been placed in service at the Ramada for general use. Three leaking valves in the equipment room have been replaced.

The new south EE entrance sign on Portillo has been painted, and as surmised, appears as though it has always been there. The color used was Travertine, which is the color of all common area masonry within the subdivision. The lettering will be installed in short order, saying "Esperanza Estates" in black iron across the top of the arch. Kudos to Enhancement Team members Lance Ewing and Eric Ellingson for the 2-coat paint job. A bell is being readied to hang inside the arch. This is going to be a very nice and distinctive welcoming sign for persons traveling north along Portillo, announcing our subdivision in our own special style---courtesy, of course, of our Enhancement Team.

Many thanks to Jim Sage, who will soon be installing five more memorial bricks at Sunset Ramada. This will make it 55 bricks that Jim has neatly arranged and installed for our residents. We are most appreciative for Jim’s work.

Remember the Hospitality Committee’s Spaghetti Night, March 25th at Sunset Ramada. Tickets are needed for this event, and they go on sale March 11th and will be available for sale at Hamburger Night. Tickets may be obtained from Pauline Blum, or Sam Barnard, and checks should be made out in either name. Ticket price is $12.00. Only 100 tickets will be sold for this event, and sales close Sunday, March 23rd. The menu for the evening will be spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad, dessert, and complimentary wine. Don’t miss this one!

The March Board meeting will be held next Monday, March 17th, at Sunset Ramada, at 1:00 p.m.

Have a good week. Just another 7 days until St. Patrick’s Day--time to lay in your corned beef and green beer.
