Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

March 1

Good Morning:

The Lunar Party, originally planned for Esperanza Estates Park, was moved to Sunset Ramada due to deteriorating weather conditions. About 60 hearty souls braved the crummy weather and attended, and from all appearances, had a fine time. Two kinds of chili, libations, hot dogs, and assorted desserts were the menu. Considerable merriment was noted. No report of the full moon having been seen, but then, that’s sort of a sideline anyway. There is always next year.

Our Enhancement Team’s big patio sale is scheduled for this coming Saturday, March 6, beginning at 7:00 am at Sunset Ramada. You won't want to miss this one! It will feature a year's worth of collected articles of all descriptions and also, home-made baked goodies. This is the Team’s biggest event of the year, and their major fund raiser. All proceeds are invested right back into EE, so you are helping yourself to shop at the Team’s sale. We’ll see you there!

There is still room at the sale for more baked goods, so if you can bake something for the Team to sell, please do so and bring it to the Ramada by 7 am on the morning of March 6. This includes anything bakeable, breads, cookies, muffins, cup-cakes, etc.

Remember the Hospitality Committee’s Hamburger Nite scheduled for March 9 at Sunset Ramada. Festivities begin at 4:30. The cost of an excellent hamburger, cheeseburger, or veggi-burger and a drink is the nominal sum of only $5.00, and includes table service. All of the fellowship to be found there is free! Come on down and enjoy the evening. These events are becoming very popular and so come early. Please remember to bring a can of food or other non-perishable food item for the local Food Bank.

That delightful little flower garden growing in the large pot at the entrance to the pool is courtesy of Jane Ellingson, who has been nurturing it for a few months now. Many thanks, Jane--your green thumb is showing well.

Among all our angels in EE, we have two who are always finding something new to help out. Stoney Brown and Bob Hunton, who work every week at doing something to make our community a better place, are now filling pot holes for us! They have their own mixture that seems to hold up better than whatever our county people add--that is, when you can get the county to pay attention to the condition of the streets. Many thanks, Stoney and Bob! There is a place in heaven for you.

Golfers: Here is a chance for you to win a new car! On Saturday, March 6 at the Quail Creek Course, there will be a hole-in-one contest for which the winner will receive a new car from O’Rielly Chevrolet, valued at $30,000. Cost to enter the competition is only $2.00 per shot, or 3 shots for $5. There will be a prize for entering, and the first 30 qualifiers will be eligible for the final shoot out for the car. Qualifying will be from 10 am to 2 pm, and the shoot out will be held at 2:30 pm. Check this out--you could be the winner! Valle Verde Rotary is sponsoring the contest. Further details: call 399-0455.

That same night, March 6, Valle Verde Rotary is holding its Jazz for Fun festival at Canoa Hills Social Center, 3660 S. Camino del Sol. The festival begins at 6:00 pm, and 3 jazz bands will play for the evening. Food and drink will be available, and the cost of the show is only $10.00. There will be auctions held as well, and it will be a fun event for all. Call 399-0455 for tickets or information.

Remember, tickets for the big 2010 Home Tour go on sale this Saturday at the Team’s patio sale, so get yours early. You can also buy a ticket to the Hospitality Committee’s spaghetti dinner, scheduled for March 27. Both tickets will be available between 9 and 11 a.m. at the patio sale. Tickets are $10 each, for each event. Call 399-0455 for further information.

A sidewalk irregularity (raised edge) at the corner of Napa and Ensalmo has caused a trip and fall, and is being reported to the County through the GVCCC protocol. We hope they will repair it. If you walk in this area, use caution. The irregularity has been marked with red paint.

Have a good week.
