Green Valley, AZ

February 8

Good Morning:

Remember the Hospitality Committee’s Hamburger Nite, tomorrow beginning at 4:30 at Sunset Ramada. Excellent hamburgers, cheeseburgers, or veggie-burgers with sides and a drink for only $5.00. Table service is provided. A good time at a nominal charge. Come down and see your friends and neighbors, and enjoy the evening. Please bring a can or other item of non-perishable food for the Food Bank.  A collection bin will be available at the entrance to the Ramada.

The next morning, Wednesday, February 10, we will have Free Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada, beginning at 9:00 am. Come on down and enjoy some time with friends and neighbors and enjoy a donut and coffee, complementary to all. The plan is to have this function at the Ramada the second Wednesday of each month, so plan on it.

Marvol Barnard, EE resident and LPGA/PGA Class A Member and golf instructor, has a website at www.MarvolBarnardGolf.com where you can learn all about her activities and what is happening in the golf world. Marvol can be reached at 648-5925, or through her website.

The Enhancement Team is continuing to collect items for the spring patio sale, to be held at Sunset Ramada on Saturday, March 6.  This is now less than a month away. Kitchenware, patio items, home decor and furniture are wanted, and more articles and items are need for the sale. If you have large items you intend to donate and would prefer not to store, let the Team know. A very generous person in EE has offered the use of his garage for storage and the Team will gladly pick them up. The annual patio sale is the Team's biggest fund raiser for the year and the "drive is on" to raise the money for the future enhancement projects the Team has planned.  For pick up, call Sandi (625-0039), Bev (625-7741), or Barb (867-8067).  Remember, when you help the Team you help yourselves, as all Team proceeds are reinvested right back in EE.

The pool cover underwent a general tune-up this past week. The cover has been in use for about a year, and it was time to have the general adjustments required after normal use made, the ropes checked, and the mechanism oiled and cleaned. Overall the cover is functioning well and serving its intended purpose.

Kudos to Stoney Brown and Bob Hunton, who recently spent considerable time spreading several yards of gravel around one of the quad common areas to refurbish it and eliminate some safety concerns.

In the 2010 EE Phone Directory distributed late last week, one phone number in the Neighborhood Watch listing of Block Captains and Assistants -- on the inside of the 'Address Directory' cover -- is incorrect. The correct number for Glenn & Pat Fairchild, co-captains for zone 18, appears in the by-Street-Address and by-Last-Name listings.

Two changes have been made in the way the name, address, and phone information is presented in the 2010 Directory. First, the by-Street-Address listing is sorted by the 'short names' of our streets (Calma, Ensalmo, Excelso, Holgado, Napa, Norte, Nueva, Portillo, Regalo, and Sur.) Second, the left-hand column always contains the 'sorted-by' information; so, street number & street name appear in the left column in the by-Street-Address listing, and last names appear in the left column in the by-Last-Name listing. Since Neighborhood Watch zones are determined by street address, only the by-Street-Address listing includes the Neighborhood Watch zone numbers.

Have a good week. We hope the Super Bowl went your way.
