Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

February 7

Good Morning:

Remember the next Hamburger Nite at the Ramada on Tuesday, Feb. 8 -- tomorrow night.  Cocktails at 4:30 and grilling at 5:00.  This Hospitality Committee event offers Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers or veggie-burgers, with table service, chips, and a drink, for just $5.00. Come down and find out why these events are so popular. Come once and you'll be a regular!

Please bring a can or other item of non-perishable food for the Food Bank collection drive we hold at each event. The need in Green Valley continues to exceed the supply, so we need to remember the less fortunate. Several people brought food items for donation to the Dessert Buffet last Sunday, and these items have been collected for safekeeping and will be placed in the Food Bank bin this week.

2011 EE Directories will be available at Hamburger Nite; if you would like a copy or two, get them here! Call Mary Beth Wallace (399-0299) if you want a directory but cannot attend.

Remember Free Coffee & Donuts at the Ramada on Wednesday, February 9, beginning at 8:30. Come on down and start your morning with coffee, pastry, and conversation with your friends and neighbors. (In future months, this event will be held a week after Hamburger Nite, in order to spread events out a bit more. It will always be announced here, so you don't need to make a note!)

The Volunteer Landscape Work Crew will hold its 3rd monthly clean-up project on Wed., Feb. 9, at 9:30 a.m. (right after the free coffee & donuts!)  Plan to meet at the Ramada to load up on [free] carbs, and come prepared with gloves & tools. This week we will work in the quad at the lower end of del Sur and then move to the walking trail adjacent to Portillo.  New volunteers are always welcome.

Many thanks to Ken Adler & Jim Sage for helping with the plumbing repairs at the Ramada, following the 'big freeze'. A special thanks to Jim, who worked for several hours on Saturday to help repair a difficult to access break in one of the supply water lines for the main sink.  Thanks also to our webmaster and newest board member, Craig Surprise, for his help during the recent cold spell.  He helped many of our neighbors with frozen pipes--both with his email advice, and with some hands-on assistance. He is also making changes to the water supply to the fountain at Sunset Park to make it more tolerant of cold weather.  Many other neighbors helped their neighbors as well with freeze problems, and thanks to all of the Good Samaritans who did so. It is good to remember we are all in this together.

Two bills are pending before the Arizona legislature to require HOA's to make HOA documents available electronically--something that EE has done for over 2 years, without any prompting. All HOA documents germane to residents are and have been available on our website at 'www.esperanzaestates.net' along with a lot of other useful and interesting photos, information, links, and more.

Each month's printed edition of the Periodico, for residents without email and the ability to receive it 'over the web', will be placed in a container on the pillar at the entrance to the Ramada.  They should be available no later than Thursday of the week after each Board Mtg. -- held the 3rd Monday of each month.  Everyone receiving this Memo will automatically receive the Periodico each month by email.

Have a good week.  Remember your Sweetheart on Valentine's Day, February 14. We hope the winter is now pretty much behind us after last week! Lots of frozen pipes in EE. Hope your Superbowl team won the game!
