Movie Of The Week
Hope Springs will be shown at the Ramada this Wednesday,
February 6, at 6:00. After decades of marriage, a devoted couple
(Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones) go see a couples' counselor in order
to spice things up and reconnect. The real challenge for both of them
comes as they try to re-ignite the spark that caused them to fall for
each other in the first place.
Gardeners Gather
EE Gardeners meet Thursday, February 7 at 1 pm at the Sunset
Ramada.
Fiber Wednesday
This growing group of EE fiber artists meets on Wednesdays at 1:00
at the Ramada. All skill levels are welcome. Contact Donna Shay
at 815-243-3402 for more information.
"Here's An Idea!"
Those are scary words to people who know me well, but I've been thinking
.... Wouldn't it be fun (and not too much work) to have an EE group in
the White Elephant Parade next October? We love our subdivision and
think we are one of the best in GV, so why not let the whole town know
it. Even if you won't be in EE for the parade at the end of October,
we'll need your help with the planning this spring. If you are
interested in working on this, contact Cynthia Surprise at
cjsurprise@verizon.net or 857-209-1978.
"Let Them Eat Cake!"
Cupcakes, actually. That's the Hospitality Committee's Valentines Day
dessert treat on Burger Night, Tuesday, February 12. Of course,
Marie Antoinette was referring to the the cake inside chimneys (yuck)
when she uttered her famous line, but don't worry, these cupcakes won't
get anywhere close to our barbecue grill. Social hour starts at 4:30 and
grilling at 5:00. $6.00 gets you a hamburger, cheeseburger or veggie
burger, pickle, chips, a beverage and a cupcake.
Home Sweet Home
The Enhancement Team's Home and Garden Tour will take place March 24,
and there's still time to enter your home in the tour. It doesn't have
to be the Taj Mahal (which, of course, wouldn't comply with the CC&Rs
anyway). If you have some unique feature or you completed a home or
decorating project you are proud of, don't be modest or shy. Let us peek
inside. Gardens will also be on the tour this year, and you can enter
yours with or without your house. Remember, we have a lot of new
residents, and they are eagerly looking for decorating and landscaping
ideas. Contact Jackie Rautio at 269-7864 to volunteer your home or
suggest someone else's.
Corrections To EE Directory
Please note a couple of corrections to the new EE Directory. The correct
numbers for the Christophers are: Michael 608-698-0690 and Barbara
608-332-0770. Please delete the 205 cell phone number for Cynthia
Surprise. It no longer works.
Bridge Anyone? Phone Number Correction
Pat and Dick Schmuck are still looking for EE residents who'd
like to play bridge. You'll need to dial the area code to reach them at
541-399-3063. E-mailers can contact them at
patschmuc@gorge.net.
EE Who's Who
Trying to reach a board member or committee chair? Their contact
information is listed on our website at
esperanzaestates.net. The list
is also posted on the bulletin board at the Ramada. They'll be happy to
hear from you, especially if you are calling to tell them what a great
job they're doing.
March 11th May Be Your Lucky Day
Overdue for that hole-in-one? Enter the Green Valley Council's
Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament scheduled for Monday, March 11
and you could win $10,000. That's the prize for the first hole-in-one of
the tournament. Feeling lucky or just incredibly skilled? Call Joe
McCalpin at 867-8067 for details. And yes, that date is
different from the last published date. We're not just checking to see
if you've been paying attention.
Help Someone Stay Warm
The Arts Club is collecting blankets and other warm clothing for the
Crossroads Mission, which helps families in Nogales, Sonora. Dean Hess

Book Club Picks

Defending Jacob by William Landay. The selections for the
following months are: March - The Language of Flowers by
Vanessa Diffenbaugh; April - An Invisible Thread: The True
Story of an 11-Year-Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive, and an
