February 28

Good Morning:

The inaugural meeting of the EE Garden Club will be held today, Feb 28th, at the Ramada, beginning at 1:30.  If you are interested in helping to make the many common areas of EE more colorful and attractive, you're encouraged to attend the meeting and become involved.  You may contact Bill Berdine (344-7301) for further information.

Remember the Enhancement Team's big annual yard and bake sale, coming up next Saturday, March 5. If you have new or used household items to donate, or can bake something for the Team to sell, please call Bev Brow (625-7741); Lorna Kitchak (838-0653); or Jackie Rautio (269-7864). To donate baked goods, call Sandi Oster (625-0039), or Martha Fischer (207-0765.) This will be the last opportunity to help out on this aspect of the sale, but remember to attend and invite your friends -- and buy-buy-buy! This is the Team's biggest fund-raiser of the year, and they need your help to make it a success.

The Team's work on the new "trash corner" of the Ramada continues. They bought three new garbage cans which will be mandated to use with liners, and a supply of liners. The old cans, all in pretty bad shape, will be cleaned up and sold at the Team's yard sale next Saturday. The holder for the Ramada brooms has been moved to an out-of-sight location, yet is still readily reachable. The worn-out cleaning implements have been discarded.

On Thursday, March 10th at 1 p.m. Mr. John Haggerty, representing GVR4US, has agreed to host a question and answer session at the Sunset Ramada to discuss the upcoming GVR elections, ballot issues and pending lawsuits involving GVR. Mr. Haggerty is an attorney who has questioned some of the actions and decisions of the GVR board and staff.  We have also invited a representative of GVR to participate.  Due to limited space we request that you respond to the email address boylin@cox.net  to indicate your interest in attending and how many are in your party.

The next Hamburger Nite is scheduled for March 8, and the next Free Coffee and Donuts, for March 16, both at the Ramada. An Italian Nite dinner, featuring an array of Italian pasta and accompaniments will be held on March 19 at the Ramada. Tickets, just $10/person, will be available at the patio sale, Hamburger Nite, and from any Hospitality Committee member.  More details for each of these events appear in the February Periodico, and reminders will appear here in the Memo the week of each event.

The regular monthly EE Board meeting was held last Monday at the Ramada. Meeting minutes are on the EE website. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to go directly to the web site.

The new GVC Community Directory is being distributed. If you haven't received your copy, contact Charl Petry at 648-2541, or your usual Periodico delivery person.

The February Periodico should be in your email box. This issue is just fantastic--full of color, photos, interesting articles, new features, and EE history, a brain-teaser, coming events, and all the general news that you will be interested in.  If you don't have email, you may pick up a printed copy at the Ramada.

Final plumbing repairs to the freeze damage at the Ramada have been completed. The hose bib near the main pool entrance has been reconnected, and a old and leaking valve servicing the spa and the Sunset Park water system has been replaced. Two new shower heads in the men's and women's changing rooms have been installed.

Have a good week.
