Esperanza Estates

Green Valley, AZ

February 1

Good Morning:

Our monthly publication, the Periodico has a new editor, Denise Roessle, who will take office in September to replace Arleen Boyuls. Denise is a professional in this area, with many years of experience, and our HOA is very lucky to have found her--just as were most fortunate to have had the services of Arlene these past years. The Periodico has been and will continue to be in good hands.

A couple of February events coming up will be the Hospitality Committee’s Hamburger Nite on February 9, and the Lunar Party on February 28. Watch the EE Forum Calendar for further details and reminders.

The Enhancement Team is continuing its collecting items for the spring patio sale, to be held at Sunset Ramada in March. This is only about a month away. Kitchenware, patio items, home decor and furniture are wanted. If you have large items you intend to donate and would prefer not to store, let the Team know. A very generous person in EE has offered the use of his garage for storage and the Team will gladly pick them up. The annual patio sale is the Team's biggest fund raiser for the year and the "drive is on" to raise the money for the future enhancement projects the Team has planned. For pick up, call Sandi (625-0039), Bev (625-7741), or Barb (867-8067). Remember, when you help the Team you help yourselves, as all Team proceeds are reinvested right back in EE.

Many thanks to Jerry Allen, who acts as our pro-tem secretary at the annual meetings and does the minutes for us. Jerry has done this for many years, and the Board appreciates her efforts very much. The minutes will be posted on the website and can be reviewed there.

The annual Esperanza Estates Volunteer Dinner has been set for April 9, at Sunset Ramada. This is the day set aside to honor and thank all of the many volunteers of our subdivision, who help so much to keep it a great place to live. Cocktails will begin at 4:30 and the dinner at 5:30. The menu is still in the planning stages. If you are a volunteer in EE, in any capacity, then you are invited to attend and be honored at this gathering. A plaque will be awarded to the Volunteer of the Year. Watch for further details, but all volunteers, please put this date on your calendar now. You won't want to miss this event, which is complementary, of course, to all of our volunteers.

A new committee, to be known as the Bienvenidos a Esperanza Estates Committee, is being formed under the co-chairpersons Barb McCalpin and Cynthia Surprise. This Committee is being formed to act as a welcoming group for new EE residents and provide them with information about the many avenues for volunteer service available in our subdivision--including some new areas that have not been previously been open, but which the Committee wants to get started. One of their interesting ideas is to get a movie night at the Ramada started.

The Green Valley Community Directory will be distributed at the end of February. If you are not in the Directory and want to be, you can fill out a directory listing-on line at the GVCCC website, www.gvccc.org, under the GV Directory menu tab.

Each year the Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber sponsors the EXPO/TASTE OF THE VALLEY. It will be on Tuesday (tomorrow), February 2  from 10:00 until 3:00. This year it is at the DESERT DIAMOND CASINO! There will be “park & ride” transit at no charge. Catch it at the Dollar Store in the Green Valley Village (call the Chamber at 625-7575 for the schedule or with questions about the Expo). There will be food and all sorts of booths – it should really be fun. The booths will cover about everything imaginable, golf, solar, building, remodeling, landscaping, health, investments, banking, insurance, mining, water, etc.

The Ramada dedication plaque has been reframed and repositioned at the Ramada entrance, where it is much more visible.

A group of about 35 White Elephant truckers met for a meeting last Thursday at our Ramada, by invitation.

If you are opposed to the use of a million and a half dollars of federal stimulus funds to change the metric signs on I-19, and think the money could be better used elsewhere, (such as keeping the HW rest areas open, repaving some of the streets, etc.) you can express an opinion by calling 327-6077, or via email by going to www.azdot.gov/i19signage and clicking on the email link provided near the end of the 'Public Input' paragraph. If you send email, send a copy to the GV Community Coordinating Council (cc to: 'GVCCC@theriver.com' ) which opposes the proposal and wishes to keep track of community input.

We are advised that The Love Stories of Esperanza Estates has been proof-read, and is going into the final stages before it will be published and made available. Many thanks to Cynthia Surprise for the proof read, and to Ed Lord, who has agreed to help with the publication. This has been a project of Sandy Reed and Melodye Cooke. Watch for information on availability. If you have a love story that you would like to share, it is not too late if you act immediately. Contact Sandy Reed at 393-1427.

The Periodico article (January issue) that residents could call or email Mary Beth Wallace after 1 Feb. to order an EE Directory contained an email address that is incorrect. The correct address is merrymary7@q.com.

Have a good week and enjoy Super Sunday.
