Green Valley, AZ December 6Good Morning:
Remember the
Pearl Harbor Day potluck tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 7th)
beginning at 5:00 at the Ramada. Please bring a favorite dish to
share. Our Hospitality Committee has decorated the Ramada very
nicely for the occasion, and will provide beverages. (One of our
neighbors is bringing Mexican hot chocolate, a not-to-be-missed
treat.) Music will be provided by Gary Finke and his Cactus
Country Band, playing swing, rock-n-roll, Mariachi, and a bit of
everything else. Holiday attire is encouraged, and there will
be a raffle for door prizes. This will be a lot of fun, and will
be our main holiday bash for this year.
There is no
charge, but please bring a donation of nonperishable food for
the local Food Bank--which is in very serious need of help this
time of year. There will be a collection bin near the Ramada
entrance.
Noted EE
author Robert Hunton will be available to sign copies of his
newly published novel, "Gift of the Desert Dog", at the Pearl
Harbor Day festivities on Tuesday. Copies of the book are
available at the Green Valley Bookshop in the Green Valley
Village Mall, or from the author.
Wednesday, December 8 is Free Coffee & Donuts at the Ramada,
starting at 8:00 a.m. This is just a social time to meet and
talk with your friends and neighbors, and have a cup and a donut
free of charge. A great way to start your day.
The
Landscape Work Project, mentioned in prior Monday Morning
Memos, will take place on Wednesday, December 8. Volunteers
should meet at the Ramada at 9:00 a.m. We plan to work on the
trail in the area next to Vereda Calma between Circulo Napa and
Camino Holgado. Please bring any gloves, clippers, shovels,
rakes, and trash bags you have. You can work as much or as
little as you like. No time commitment is required.
Now that
the Wi-Fi hotspot is working at the Ramada/pool area, give it a
try over the next few days and let us know what you think of the
service. Our webmaster, Craig Surprise, will be at the Ramada on
Tuesday, the 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, to answer questions
and help get your Wi-Fi enabled devices connected. Our thanks to
Eric Ellingson and our webmaster, who jointly solved some
technical problems to get the hot spot working, and to Eric who
loaned us the equipment for the test.
Watch for
an Event Reminder for an impromptu Bonfire at EE Park (aka
Flag Park) some evening soon, before Christmas, for hot
chocolate and a good time.
If you need help in decorating your light pole, assistance is
available at a cost of $10 if you have the decorations, and $15
if you do not. This price includes removal after the season, and
of course, any decorations purchased become yours. Before
calling to order this service, you must be sure you have a
plug-in adapter (the device with a plug-in outlet that screws
into the light socket). If you do not have this, it can be
supplied, but at its cost to the decorator (about $3.00). When
the light heads were changed over the summer, the old heads were
placed inside the patio walls, so if you had such an adapter,
that is where you will find it. Call 399-0455 for this service,
and please call as early in the season as possible. This service
will not be available after December 15.
HOLIDAY
CONCERT REMINDER
If you still have your old lamp head, and wish to see it go to
a good home, then call Ann Hirz at 495-5405. She wants to
purchase a number of them, and will explain her requirements
when you call. She is looking particularly for heads having the
amber glass. She also reports that those callers since this same
paragraph appeared last week, have told her in lieu of a sale
price to them, that she should make a donation to our HOA for
the reasonable value of the lamp head instead--which she is
doing. So far the HOA has received $50 from her for the heads
donated. This is a good way to help out your HOA and get rid of
a piece of clutter at the same time. Thanks Ann!
Many thanks to Lance Ewing, Vince Brow, Ed Buchholz and Stacie
Meyer for their help installing Christmas decorations at the
Ramada, Sunset Park, and the entrance monument on Esperanza
Blvd. Thanks also to Terry and Donna Shay, Craig and Cynthia
Surprise, and Lorna Kitchak for decorating Flag Park on Holgado
at Esperanza Blvd --for the first time in many years--and in a
fashion never before seen. It's spectacular! Be sure you get
out some evening and take a look at the splendid job all of
these volunteers have done. It makes EE a real showplace for
the community. Also, we note that more and more of our neighbors
are completing the decoration of their individual lamp posts.
They all look great, and very festive. EE is known all over
Green Valley for the way the community decorates for Christmas.
The annual assessment billing for EE has been sent out. Please
note the assessment payment is due by the end of the year, and
if not paid, becomes subject to late charges. The HOA asks all
owners to please pay promptly.
Do
you know anyone who needs Styrofoam coolers? If so, eight are
available......all sizes! Anyone needing coolers can call
399-9880.
Have a good
week, and enjoy the Holidays.
