December 27

Good Morning:

The 5th Annual First Day Celebration & Potluck will be held at the Ramada on January 1st, starting at 1 o'clock. Bring your own favorite beverages, table service (plates, utensils, etc.) and a dish to share. (There is a sign-up sheet at the Ramada to let you see what others are planning on bringing, and to indicate what you will be.) For more information, call Jane at 625-7782 or Mona at 625-3797. This is always a fun time, and a great way to begin the new year with your neighbors and friends in Esperanza Estates.

Just a reminder that your annual EE dues are due before January 15, and if not so paid, a 10% late fee will be charged. If you have financial issues that prevent you from prompt payment, please call Joan Moreaux and discuss with her, at 648-7515.

The EE 5 year capital projects budget was approved at the Board meeting held December 20. The budget will appear in the December Periodico for your review.

Electrical repairs to the pool cover have been partially completed this past week, but more work remains and parts are needed for the cover rails to make the cover open and close correctly. These have been ordered and will be installed, hopefully, this coming week. Until all repairs have been completed the pool cover will remain closed, and the pool out of service. The spa is open and operating normally. We have located a leak in the spa pump, and repairs have been made. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but it is not the fault of anyone.

The Napa Luminaria, held last Thursday night, was fantastic! All of the owners along this part of lower Napa, and those who decorate for the absentees, deserve a big thanks for a big task, but one which brings credit to EE. We hope you had a chance to see it.

The Lion Safari winner is Kay Kimla. She correctly identified Glen Fairchild, Hope Allen and Mary Beth Wallace. Thanks to all that participated.

Don't forget: the EE Ramada & Pool area is now a Wi-Fi "hotspot"! It is easy to connect to, and there is no charge for use. All wireless devices needing an Internet connection will work well with our hotspot and it operates at a good rate of speed. So take your laptop, netbook, smartphone, eBook reader, or other wireless device down, connect to the hotspot, and enjoy the view while you review your email, surf the web, download a book, or whatever turns your crank. It is much more fun than sitting at home and doing the same thing, so try it out. The board would like your comments on the hotspot, and our webmaster will be collecting them; email to: ee-webmaster@msn.com. You no longer have to go to the library, Safeway's, or McDonald's for free Internet access; you can do it all from our own Ramada!

The Dispose-A-Med boxes have reopened in three GV firestations (151 La Canada, 152 Camino del Sol, and 153 Continental) for the disposal of prescription and over-the-counter medications which are unneeded or with expired use dates.

If you haven't visited our award winning EE website lately, click the link at the bottom of this page or go to www.esperanzaestates.net to see what's new... including pictures of the Luminaria display on lower Napa and a selection of Christmas lighted homes and EE common areas. The site also has copies of past issues of this Memo, the Periodico, minutes of EE HOA board meetings, and all of our organizational legal documents (By-laws, CC&R's, a listing of required house paint colors, etc.), links to other useful websites, numerous photos from around EE, and lots of other useful information. The site is updated with new photos and material regularly, so check it out often. If your friends back home want to know why you enjoy spending the winters here, referring them to the website is a great way to give them the pictures & information needed (to make them jealous!)

The December Periodico will be available this week. Watch for it.

Remember to attend the EEHOA Annual Meeting, January 17, 2011. Full details, including your ballot, are in the recent mailing.

Have a good week. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and will have a great New Year. We'll see you at the First Day Celebration!
