Monday Morning Memo----------December 10th

Good Morning:

Be sure to keep in mind the Hospitality Committee’s HAPPY HOUR, set to begin at 4:30 TODAY, at the ramada. It may be chilly, so dress accordingly.

The Enhancement Team’s auction will be held in conjunction with this event.

The Happy Hour is a freebee, courtesy of the Committee, and your reward for supporting all of their activities over the past year. Libations of an adult type will be served gratis; a wide selection will be available. Attendees are asked to bring snack items for sharing with fellow attendees

The beautiful  baskets being put together for auction by the Enhancement Team have filled up with very useful food and drink items, such as everything needed for:

A Beer Party

A Happy Hour

or

A Tea Party

A Happy Golfer

or

A Visitation by the Grandchildren

To be auctioned separately---4 pieces of beautiful hand crafted jewelry. They would make wonderful gifts for Christmas.  All items will be on display for viewing during the party on December 10th at the ramada, so come on down and have a look. Payment acceptable will be either cash or checks. All proceeds will be used by the Enhancement Team for the benefit of Esperanza Estates.

Due to an illness in the family, our usual auctioneer, Lilly Sheehan, will not be available; however, never fear. A new auctioneer, in the person of our own Ed Buchholz , has stepped up to the plate and will handle the auction with skill and alacrity.

ATTENTION GOLFERS

Also coming up for bid will be a round of golf for four people at the Tubac Country Club. Plan to bid! You and your golf buddies may be getting a real bargain.

The December Board meeting will be held next Monday. Depending on the weather, it will either be at the ramada or the Bank of America Building at Continental and La Canada. The location will be posted in the MMM and at the ramada when determined. An agenda will appear with the next Memo.

At a special Board meeting held December 3rd, it was decided to call for a vote on a special assessment to pay off the remaining debt due on the ramada. The vote will be taken at the annual meeting in January. Details will be provided in the annual meeting mailing which will take place later this month. They will also appear in the December Periodico and in an edition of the MMM later this month.

Kudos to our Enhancement Team, who did their usual fine job decorating around Sunset Park and our front monument. Kudos as well to Pat Greenig, who donated a bag of decorations for use around the subdivision. And kudos to all who have decorated their light poles and homes for the enjoyment of passers-by.

The ad hoc pool committee will meet December 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the ramada. Any interested resident may attend, but the working committee will be limited to the first 11 members who have signed up. Call Joe McMahon 648-2201, if you have questions.

An interesting article appears at http://money.aol.com/retirement/worst-places-to-retire  It described Green Valley as among the 13 worst places in the country to retire. The so-called "facts" given for the reasons are either totally bogus, or highly exaggerated half-truths. Pretty bad journalism.

A NOTE FROM SHEILA BENNEN:

It is very important that you have someone checking on your home when you are gone, I know most of you do.

Often these people come only once a month and they miss the light bulb notice which will become costly.

I wish to suggest that once you have a person identified you inform them to watch for the notice and additionally I would appreciate you letting me know their phone number and that way I can call them.

We also need to know how to reach you when you are gone so please complete that information on your Statement of Compliance form.

Please call me with the name of the person watching your house. If you have a reliable person I would like to know in case someone needs a person.

I have the name of one person who is checking on several places now if you need a name.

My number is   399-0501.
