Arts Club Activities
The Arts Club is alive and well and planning their 2015
projects. The first meeting is today at
the Ramada at 10:00 a.m. If
you aren't on their mailing list but would like to be,
contact Kevin Welsh at
welsh.kj@gmail.com.

Wednesday Movie: Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Take a break from preparing the bird and join the usual cast
of suspects at 6:00 p.m. at
the Ramada. If you've ever traveled over the Thanksgiving
holiday, you'll easily relate to this comedy. The film
stars Steve Martin as Neal Page, a high-strung marketing executive, who meets Del Griffith,
played by John Candy, an eternally
optimistic, overly talkative, and clumsy shower curtain
ring salesman who seems to live in a world governed by a
different set of rules. They share a three-day odyssey of
misadventures trying to get Neal home to Chicago from New York City in time for Thanksgiving
dinner with his family.

Holiday Party
Get into the holiday spirit on Tuesday, December 9, when the Hospitality Committee will
hold its holiday feast. No Christmas goose or plum pudding
on the menu, but for $6 you can get a hamburger,
cheeseburger or veggie burger, condiments, a pickle, chips
and homemade cookies. There will be complimentary beer,
wine, soda, water, and (thanks to Tom Cooke) special holiday punch.
Social hour at 4:30 p.m. and
dinner at 5:00, at the Ramada. On special leave from Santa's
workshop Sam
Barnard and Dave Sielken will do the honors at the grill.

Morning Water Aerobics The morning water aerobics group is hibernating until next
spring. I'm sure you can guess why. The afternoon aqua
exercise group continues at 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays-with the exception of Thanksgiving Day.
|
Fiber and Crafts Group
No meeting this week due to Thanksgiving. But the group
resumes on December 4 at 1:00. You are encouraged to bring
projects you want to work on as well as show a project you
have completed.

Leaders Wanted for Yoga, Cards and Board Games
A number of residents are eager to participate in these
activities. Are you interested in leading them? If so, please
contact Barb Copeland at
jlbrcopeland@aol.com
|
New Residents Reception
The Bienvenidos Committee is holding its annual reception
for newcomers on Wed., December 3. All new residents should have
received their invitations, and the committee would
appreciate that you RSVP by this Wednesday.

Save a Life
Are you CPR certified? We'd like to publish a list of
residents who could help in an emergency before the fire
department arrives. If you are certified and would be
willing to help, please contact Cynthia at
cjsurprise@verizon.net to be included on the list.

No Dues Increase
Here's some good news. At its November meeting, the Board
approved the HOA's 2015 budget, which did not raise our
dues.
|
Nifty Name Needed
When completed, the new shade tree park will be worthy of a fabulous name, and Shade Tree Park
just won't cut it. So, the planners are looking for creative
suggestions from you. The criteria are that the name have a
Spanish flavor (in keeping with our street names) and be easy to
say and pronounce. Send your ideas to Jim Copeland
at
jlbrcopeland@aol.com by the end of December. Need some on-site
inspiration to come up with a fitting name? Wander up to the
site of the future park and you'll see the footprint of the
future little oasis painted in the sand.

Help the Homeless
Miranda Montano, the 14 year-old daughter
of Hot Desert supervisor, Rene, is collecting warm clothing
and blankets to distribute to the homeless. Miranda named
her project WARMTH (We Are Restoring Miracles Through Hope)
and has placed a collection box in the Ramada. It will be
there through the first week of December. Donations are
appreciated.

What You Always Wanted to Know After Buying a Home
A little treasure from the annals of EE history showed up in Ron
and Ole McLaughlin's new home, and they are sharing it with others in EE. The
booklet was written by EE's developer, Earl Whigham, and
given to original residents when they purchased their homes. It's sort of an owner's manual for the houses in EE. Our
webmaster, Craig Surprise, has scanned & posted the booklet on our
website (esperanzaestates.net) under
HOA Documents for you
to view. We are always looking for more items about EE's
history. If you have any photos or documents, please
give Craig a call to arrange for pick-up, or email him at
ee-webmaster@msn.com.
