November 23
A new system is being implemented for the Monday
Morning Memo, using a different email system in an effort to
prevent the crashes and loss of addresses that have been
experienced in the past. The Memo may look a bit different for a
time while we work out the bugs so please bear with us. Many
thanks to our webmaster, Craig Surprise, for all of his help in
this effort.
As has been reported previously, on December 2 at the hour of
4:00 at Sunset Ramada, our Enhancement Team is sponsoring
a complementary wine and cheese party, and all are invited.
There will be a gift boutique, and the unveiling of the Team's
new "Pet Post". This is an area where it is possible to place a
permanent memorial to a pet, either living or deceased, for a
very nominal charge. The memorials are in the firm of plaques,
measuring about 2 1/2 x 4 inches, in color, with engraved
lettering--very nice in appearance. Everyone has had a favorite
pet during their lifetime, be it a dog or cat, bird, mouse, or
what have you. The Pet Post will also be adorned with small
statues of a dog, cat, and a mouse, and is a very unique spot
that you will be proud to be a part of.
The gift boutique will feature many items and articles suitable
for holiday gift giving, and you may browse this area while
enjoying a complementary glass of wine, and cheese nibbles.
Also being offered will be memorial bricks. These occupy a place
of honor in our Ramada floor, and are for purposes of honoring a
friend, relative, spouse, special date, grandchildren, or
anything within your imagination that you would like to
perpetuate. New bricks will join about 60 other memorial bricks
that have been installed over the past couple of years.
All proceeds from the Enhancement Team's efforts will be used
for the purchase of additional sun/wind screens to enable the
complete enclosure of our Ramada. These screens are expensive,
but the Team is only purchasing high quality units that are
intended to last for many years. They will add to the many other
improvements to our Ramada that have been funded by the Team's
efforts. The 2 screens ordered by the Team as reported last week
have been installed, and you can see them at the December 2 wine
and cheese fest.
Remember, this is Thanksgiving week, and it is traditional to
begin decorating your light post for the Christmas holiday
season shortly after Thanksgiving Day. If you are not so
inclined, we do have two elves in EE who will do it for
you for a nominal charge of $10 if you have all the decorations
(including the plug in adapter), and $15 if you dont have the
decorations. The charge also includes removing the decorations
after the holiday season closes. Call 399-0455 to schedule with
one of the elves.
Our tennis/pickleballl court here in EE has been undergoing an
evolutionary process. Prior to about a year ago, the court got
very little use--at least in part because it was in deplorable
condition. Last year a new surface was found for it and
installed, and the game of pickleball was instituted there. Both
of these events were largely due to the efforts of Gary Beatty,
a gentleman who doesn't live in EE, but was interested in
helping us restore our court and to teach the game of pickleball.
Now, the court is used at least 6 days a week for hours at a
time. Pickleball is played there Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays,
and Sundays, and tennis Wednesday and Friday mornings. We are
getting very good use out of our investment at the
court--probably as much currently as at our swimming pool. We
have had as many as 20 players a day use the court.
The Board passed the HOA operating budget for 2010 at the
meeting on Monday, November 16. A copy can be found in the
November issue of the Periodco, which will be distributed this
week, and will also be found on our website, at
www.esperanzaestates.net
One of the items being studied is the re-plastering of the
inside of our pool--which is overdue. Bids have been received
and are being examined.
Please remember the Green Valley Food Bank, and help if you can.
