Esperanza Estates
Green Valley, AZ
November 22
Good Morning:
The
Board is studying the feasibility of turning the Ramada/pool
area into a Wi-Fi hotspot in which residents would be able to
use their laptop computers, iPods, iPads, smartphones, even some
eBook readers, to access their email, surf the web, or download
eBooks to read at poolside. The annual cost would be modest.
Watch for details in the future.
The pool aerobics group will meet at the pool at 8:30
a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until further notice.
Phone books! This past week, we've been the recipients of yet
another phone book--possibly the fifth one this year. Since the
deliverers don't attempt to verify a home is occupied before
leaving a book, you may see one at a neighboring home you know
is unoccupied. If so, please move the book out of sight, or
dispose of it appropriately, using the Ramada recycling bin.
The Work Party mentioned in the last issue of the Memo
is scheduled for December 8, not the 15th. It will immediately
follow Free Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada. Bring any gloves,
clippers, shovels, rakes, and trash bags you have; you can work
as much or as little as you like. No time commitment is
required. It is just a chance to socialize and do a little to
help keep EE looking good -- and to allow our paid landscapers
to attack some bigger tasks that require additional equipment.
Our
Enhancement Team has begun collecting items for the
annual Ramada Sale, to be held this coming spring. This is a
good way to help out your HOA and get rid of anything around
your home that is just gathering dust. Clean household items and
small furniture are being accepted. To arrange for pickup, call:
Bev Brow (625-7741), Lorna Kitchak (838-0653), or Jackie Rautio
(269-7864). This is the Team's major yearly fund-raiser; all
proceeds are invested right back into EE for improvements and
enhancements.
The November Periodico is out. Watch
for it and enjoy the new features. Details of the 2011 EEHOA
budget, recently adopted by the Board, appear in this issue.
Most notably--there will be no increase in annual HOA dues for
2011!
On December 7th, plan to attend a Pearl Harbor Day potluck
at Sunset Ramada, sponsored by the EE Hospitality Committee.
Bring a favorite dish to share; the Committee will provide
libations for all tastes, and table settings. (Hamburger Nite
will not be held in December, but will return in January.)
We have a new celebrity in EE, in the person of Board member
Robert Hunton. His new book, Gift of the Desert Dog,
has just been published by Open Books Press, Indianapolis, IN.
In the words of one reviewer: "...action we associate with
thriller writers like Michael Crichton...a flavor of
story-telling, narration, and a touch of the archaic that one
might find in a native story. Hunton's work is animated and
compelling." The book is available at all of the national
book sellers, and can be ordered at any local book store. The
first book in a trilogy, the second and third volumes will be
published in coming years.
Now Open: Big Lots store in the former Basha's Plaza.
Have a good week.
