Green Valley, AZ November 21 Good Morning: The November Board meeting will be held today, beginning at 1:00, at the Ramada. A meeting agenda is included below. All residents are invited to attend. Free Coffee and Donuts at the Ramada was quite well attended this past Wednesday, with many event visitors interested in the art work being done in the Ramada by Kathy Sawin. Attendees were all invited to attach a piece of ceramic to the mural Kathy is doing, which promises to be a real work of art when complete. Its theme is "100 Years of Arizona Statehood", and it will be a representation of the Arizona state flag when finished. Kathy has plans for more community art in the future, so stay tuned.
Another embellishment has been added to the Coffee and Donuts mornings--a door prize. One will be given away at each Coffee and Donuts event. Just another reason to come down and join your friends and neighbors.
A Community art project, under the auspices of the Esperanza Gardeners will soon take form in Esperanza Estates (sometimes called Flag) Park. The work is being executed at the Ramada to be moved to the Park on completion. Eighteen budding artists will be working on it at the Ramada on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26. Be sure to stop by and be introduced to a friendly renditon of one of our native species. The project needs a few more roof tiles, so if you have some to spare, please call Jane Ellingson at 625-7782 for pick up.
Esperanza Estates Art Show
On Sunday, December 4, 2011, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., the Ramada will be transformed into an art gallery, workshop, and boutique, showcasing the creative talent of a number of Esperanza Estates Artists and Artisans. You will have the opportunity to watch some of them at work, and a few will offer items for sale in the boutique. All Esperanza Estates residents are invited to attend this celebration of the creativity of our neighbors. Admission is free. Many thanks to committee members Carol Ballard, Jane Ellingson, Stacie Meyer, Kraylen Milholer, Jackie Rautio, Cynthia Surprise and Linda Winterland. If you are interested in showing your work at this event, please contact Cynthia Surprise at 205-2742. The Art Show is the first event to be sponsored by the Periodico de Esperanza Estates. Others are planned for the future.
Quad owners are reminded that the CC&R's prohibit any work, or the placement of any planting, landscaping or other item within any quad yard, without the permission of the Board. The yards are common areas, and under Board supervision. Simple maintenance of existing landscaping is allowed, and encouraged, but anything beyond this needs Board approval.
The November issue of the Periodico will be available on our web site by the end of next week. Watch for an announcement.
Our Enhancement Team is taking over the task of decorating light posts for those persons who prefer not to do their own. The effort will be headed by Jackie Rautio, whose phone is 269-7864. Watch for further details in the November Periodico.
The extremely popular Enhancement Team Dessert Buffet will be held again this year--by popular demand. The date will be January 29, 2012, the Sunday between the NFL Championship Games and the Superbowl. Put this down on your calendar as you wont want to miss it! This was perhaps the most popular gathering we had last year, and this next one will be better yet. The level of culinary talent we have residing in EE is little short of astonishing, and the Dessert Buffet is a good place to sample it.
The Enhancement Team wishes to remind everyone they are still collecting for the Spring Sale. Items will be picked up by Team members. Call Jackie, 269-7864, Lorna, 838-0653, or Bev, 625-7741 to make arrangements. The Team thanks you for your donations. This sale helps the Team do all of the things they do for us all year long, and they need and count on your support.
A volunteer team, consisting of Eric Ellingson, Craig Surprise, Jim Lindberg and Terry Shay have agreed to review the Ramada sound study that was done last spring to determine if there is a practical manner in which the crowd sound may be decreased somewhat during Ramada events.
If you have not yet seen the newly placed decorative pots at the two EE entrance signs and the Sunset Ramada arch, be sure and make an effort to stop and take a look. This work was done by the EE Gardeners--all volunteers--with funding provided by our Enhancement Team, and adds greatly to the ambiance of these areas, and shows the rest of Green Valley the pride we take in our neighborhood. The Gardeners have more plans for the future as well, so watch them work.
Help! Several pairs of weights that the Water Aerobics Group uses 3 times a week have gone missing. These were paid for by Water Aerobics participants. If you paid for them & took them home, that's ok. But if you borrowed them, please return them to the pool. You are welcome to use them there, but please put them back when you're done. Thanks.
Lots of need in our local Food Bank. The Green Valley-Sahuarita Community Food Bank reports record need in this holiday season, and is without sufficient resources to meet it. Please help if you can. The Food Bank is located at 250 E. Continental Road, telephone 625-5252. They prefer cash donations, as it lets them use to fill the areas of most need, but can use any non-perishable food or toiletry items.
Have a good week, and a Happy Thanksgiving!
